Ryvian hadn’t been expecting to find a clutch at all but to find one that had ten eggs in it? His mind was simply blown. He hoped they were firelizard eggs anyway. He didn’t want to be the reason Casa’s spirits were lifted only to have her hopes crushed when they hatched into something less desirable – if they hatched at all. That was a terrible thought but Tryst crooned softly as he rubbed his little head against Ryvian’s neck and the man nodded. His flitter was a blue so there was a chance he was less reliable than a green or gold sniffing out another clutch but he felt it was a safe bet all the same.
“I’ve been told that a time or two before,” Ryvian laughed, glad the younger ‘brat had actually been having fun with him that afternoon. He hadn’t been sure what to do with her since he had grown out of playing most pranks and his new idea of fun was too much for a girl her age so he had compromised with sneaking drinks and going exploring. Whether Casa actually liked that part or not would probably never be known since Ryvian suspected it was finding the eggs that was the true fun part of the day. Still, it was better than nothing and his reputation of being fun was still intact.
“You know, we didn’t bring bags.” They had skins of wine but that wasn’t going to help carry any eggs. That left him with little choice but to strip off his shirt and toss it on the ground near the unearthed nest. “Whether you’re taking one or all of them, you’ll need something to help carry them and keep them as warm as possible until you can properly nest them again.” It wasn’t the best scenario since if they had actually planned on clutch hunting, they would have brought pots or large bags.
Ryvian crouched down a moment later, having reconsidered his own words. “I’ll help you bundle them up and carry them for you.” Casa was a bit too tipsy to entrust such precious cargo with. He wasn’t interested in another flitter since he had Tryst and didn’t want to lessen his chances at Impressing a dragon – it was a theory in progress since Rhaedalyn had an army and still Impressed – and he had no need of bartering even a single egg so there wasn’t a threat of him taking off with the clutch. He simply really wanted to avoid seeing the young girl upset over losing something that was currently making her beam so much.
