Ryvian took another swig from his skin, enjoying the taste far more than his companion. He was used to wine, even Katilan wine though that was really all he had ever been allowed to have before mingling with the right older riders. Since it was likely Casa’s first time drinking alcohol, he’d have to keep an eye on the girl for when to take away the skin. He didn’t want to fish her out of the river or carry her drunken butt home because she couldn’t walk straight without tripping over her own feet. For now, she seemed fine if a little flushed.
“Others found the nest Tryst is from,” Ryvian laughed and patted his shoulder for the blue to come back to him. “I’ve never really searched for them before now. I had my blue and didn’t want another.” Firelizards weren’t nearly as much work as a dragon would be but it was enough to keep the carefree partier happy for the time being. He took excellent care of Tryst and made sure he never wanted for anything but anymore than Tryst and Lace around the hut would likely drive them batty and ruin any privacy.
Carefully scanning the area of land just off of the river, Ryvian moved along, wondering if they really would find something and how they would tell. Would it be obvious or would they have to look for little footprints? He probably should have asked the clutch hunters what to look for but Ryvian never thought he’d be in his current position. “We should probably watch where our feet land, just in case they’re only loosely covered.” How traumatizing that would be! Ryvian knew he’d feel utterly horrible if he accidentally broke an egg and he didn’t want to be the reason Casa was upset either. So his eyes were carefully checking the ground before he stepped while still glancing around.
It was only when Tryst picked up on Ryvian’s desires did he leave the man’s shoulder to zip about in his own search. A few minutes later and he gave a chirp, waited for Ryvian’s attention to be grabbed and returned to his favourite perching spot. With a curious frown, Ryvian carefully moved a bit further away from the river but where the ground was still considered more sand than forest floor where the sun reached unimpeded. “Casa, why don’t you come check out this area?” He saw what looked like a piece of shell poking out of the loose dirt and wondered if they had actually found a firelizard clutch. There was always the chance it was nothing more than a tunnelsnake or some other random creature Ryvian would rather never meet but he felt confident in this find.
