Casa half-listened, her mind now determined to find a clutch. She would be the most popular weyrbrat of the group! And everyone could have eggs. She'd just bring the whole thing out and let them hatch and it would be like a mini Hatching but instead of dragons there would be firelizards and they could feed them as much as they wanted and it would be lovely -
Her hazy thoughts became derailed when Ryvian mentioned being careful to watch where they stepped. The thought of stepping on an egg made her almost queasy, and she shook her head a little to clear her thoughts. Refocusing on the task, she peeked down along the rocks by the bubbling water. Running her fingers over them, none of them felt like egg shards, just rocks. Disappointed, she turned to poke around tree roots. Maybe one of the firelizards had been crafty and settled it down in a little nook! But that wasn't too safe either, she realized, as an animal might eat them. Tunnelsnakes liked them, someone had told her once.
When Ryvian called to her, she perked up, flouncing over somewhat carefully. Tryst appeared to have found something, looking immensely satisfied on the man's shoulder. She kneeled back from where Ry was pointing, her fingers carefully brushing the dirt away to look. As her fingertips slid over the surface, they were somewhat soft, but had the smooth like ceramic feel. She squealed in delight, hands going to brush the dirt away with a surprisingly careful motion. As she moved the dirt, she picked up the egg carefully, eyeing it. "Oh! It's so precious." She laughed in delight. "Good spot, Ryvian!"
As she gently set it aside, she realized it hadn't been alone. Her fingers worked through the dirt and soil and rocks all around the nest, carefully setting aside clumps of dirt in favor for the softish little eggs. It took her a while, trying to figure out where they had been so carefully arranged. After much excitement, there were eventually 10 little eggs. Her eyes wide, she nestled them in a circle in front of her. "Ryvian, look! 10 whole eggs...that's incredible. You know the best ways to have fun!" She took another big sip of the wine, but her mind was clearer now. Firelizard eggs...she couldn't believe it!
