Rhaedalyn was pleased when she got R’nya into the chair and he picked up a fork. It seemed like he was snapping out of his weirdness and food would definitely complete that! If he ate it, anyway. She watched the bronzerider with growing disappointment as her hands started to fidget with each other. This was a horrible mistake and she should have known better! She was trying to make a grown man eat and it was past his preferred bedtime. She had obviously barged in on something that had to be dealt with alone but instead R’nya had gone out of his way to dress for her sake and even tried to eat. Now all the energy he had in doing so seemed to drain from him as surely as the colour in his cheeks had.
An apology was on her lips and hands were about to whisk away the food when R’nya shifted again and looked up at her. The question was a whisper but Rhaedalyn still heard it and nodded a response, not trusting herself to speak just yet. The way she nibbled on her lower lip was a sign of exactly how unsure she was of everything. Moving as quietly as she could – the thought that maybe R’nya had a headache as well her motivation – Rhaedalyn sat in the chair opposite R’nya and scooped up Rumour when he waddled a bit closer.
“I’m sorry, R’nya,” Rhaedalyn finally blurted out with a pout. She shouldn’t have come over and shouldn’t have assumed he would want anything to eat, especially something made by her. She knew her baking wasn’t always the best but loved her friends for trying and sometimes lying all the same. With her luck, her dessert would have only made R’nya even more miserable than he already looked.
