Ghaeth may not have known the signs, but Veeth certainly did! He was practically an expert on knowing when a female would rise, or so he liked to think. It was debateable whether he actually knew or if he had good reflexes in taking off so quickly after the female in question did. This time, however, was a combination of both. He had seen Okalinath earlier and she looked simply radiant. She was a pretty lady to begin with but she seemed to shimmer all the more to him and Veeth couldn’t keep his gaze from drifting back to her when he tried to look away or do something else.
To hear that that she had bloodied her first kill only made the small but determined creature all the more excited. He loved chasing! He loved showing all the females how much he loved them by entering the chase and following their intricate patterns as best as he could. It didn’t matter the colour of the hide – light green, forest green, lime green, or brilliant gold. Veeth would always be there somewhere in the pack.
V’ler of course didn’t understand the desire to show his affection and especially didn’t like how he kept trying for golds. Krypth was a friend! He definitely couldn’t pretend he didn’t see her in the sky. Jada and V’ler liked each other as well so it would be all the more amazing to win a flight with them. Naturally, V’ler wasn’t too thrilled about having to chase again so soon after dealing with Krypth’s flight but Veeth didn’t care as he sprang into action and joined in behind the other dragons that were even quicker than him to react to their basic needs.
V’ler wanted to cry in frustration at losing another battle of will with Veeth when it came to golds. The green flights still happened regularly but the rider had beaten the dragon’s lust a few times now and they both stayed firmly grounded. Gold flights, however, were too strong for the recently graduated bluerider to fight. The lust it brought out was intense and V’ler had no chance of winning; just like Veeth didn’t have a chance at winning. He was still exhausted from the workout Krypth’s flight had given him but it didn’t slow Veeth down and the blue’s energy was just enough to keep V’ler on his feet and moving in the direction of Kahleena. Although he was on his feet, they were being dragged as best as V’ler could manage as his mind started to cloud and vision blurred between ground and sky. If he didn’t make it too close to Kahleena, it would save him time after the loss was finalized in walking back to his hut where he had been strumming on his guitar to find a new melody to tease B’jin with.
Your lack of confidence is not going to help us win, V’ler hated this conversation. He knew it broke his dragon’s heart to hear it but they still went through it every time. Blues don’t win golds, Veeth.
One day, this one will.
