D’hys was pleased but almost bored with the Hatching. Everything was running smoothly without injury, which was definitely a good thing, but a lot of the bets placed on colours and who would Impress had been accurate so far. He much preferred more being wrong since it meant a bigger purse for Z’ia and him but he’d take what he could. Besides, even though this was all chance and not something he could rig, it was nice to build trust in his gamblers and let them win at times so they kept coming back for other bets and scenarios. Still, when the biggest surprise was a fashion faux-pas, it made for a dull night out.
That new brown pair hadn’t been a popular vote, although it did add up nicely to his own vote of how browns would be in this clutch – he never bet on Impressions given his lack of interest in Candidates. It had almost been a risky move considering Tyrrisath had managed to spawn a gold last clutch and it seemed almost more than likely a bronze would appear over a brown. Yet D’hys still went with his gut and tossed his favour towards browns. It was amusing to see how many went for a gold in this clutch despite the multiple claims there wouldn’t be one. Although, who could truly say? They had two baby golds running around now after everyone losing hope that the age of the dragon would continue.
When Seijin stepped close enough with his little tagalong to show the dragon was a green, D’hys agreed with the Impression from the first glance. He was certain he had seen the kid around the weyr a time or ten but he didn’t stand out enough to catch any sort of attention. But that one quick glance showed D’hys that Seijin was indeed a greenrider in the making and his little female had chosen correctly. Given the meek look under the glowing pride, D’hys mentally marked two turns from now to pay that little greenrider a visit.
