Shut up, Ayyonth. When his blue ignored him, which wasn't anything new, R'nd gave a soft growling rumble and tried again. This isn't the time for one of your jokes. We went to bed at a reasonable hour for once, why are you still punishing me? R'nd was convinced that was what was happening. No way could the clutch be ready to hatch. It seemed too early, both the hour and the day in general, but he had to admit he hadn't really been keeping track of the time the eggs were on the Sands. Ayyonth laughed and stated he wasn't fooling around the same time Larrikith started tapping her nose on the window, sending grey eyes to flutter open and stare less than enthusiastically at B'jin and saw the emotions reflected back at him.
Couldn't the little guys wait a few more hours? No, of course they couldn't, no matter how exhausted everyone would be or how grumpy a certain pair of not-weyrmates were over the idea of living in the Barracks.
As B'jin grumbled a 'fuck me' R'nd could only manage a quirk of a brow and a quivering lip as he tried to smirk before giving up. He was far too tired to flirt and reply that he'd follow the order if B'jin insisted. Besides, B'jin looked like he might murder someone if the wrong thing was said right then. Still, R'nd chanced a light tug to a hand he captured and gave a pout as answer to what he thought about getting up, losing his warm bedmate, and going to stand around for who knew how long for all the dragonets to crack shell. It wasn't that he was against Hatchings and he looked forward to seeing the new arrivals but his bed was so comfortable!
Larrikith's new method of tapping on the window, Ayyonth snickering in his mind, and B'jin doing a surprisingly well enunciated string of cursing everyone and everything, had R'nd finally detangling himself from the pile of blankets to start hunting down his clothes. Given how many times they did this routine since the first flight together, R'nd thought they would have been far better at it but still a shirt eluded him. R'nd was about to accuse B'jin of stealing another one when the greenrider was upon him for a gentle kiss and a smile replaced the complaints. "I will." He had his own fears about Kerrin Impressing bronze -- which reminded him to grab some alochol on the way out -- and even he was still against the idea of Talian Impressing, so he understood the unspoken fear B'jin had. If the little Healer Impressed, it was going to be hard on the boy and B'jin alike and R'nd was hoping he could be some sort of comfort to at least one of them.
Fully dressed, R'nd quickened his pace to catch up to his grumpy greenrider but when he got outside, instead of mounting and continuing to follow, he turned on his heel. "I'll be there not even two minutes after you, promise!" He thought about alcohol minutes before and his groggy mind had easily forgotten the idea. Inside once more, R'nd quickly grabbed an unopened bottle of wine and noted that was his second to last bottle. He'd have to work his magic for some more but that would have to wait! The bottle he grabbed was placed into a bag that was slung over his shoulder but before R'nd left again, he went for the already opened bottle. A long swig was taken, hoping the sweet wine would provide some energy and courage. Every hatching was going to be the same until Kerrin Impressed, he knew it. It didn't matter that his friend seemed destined for a green or possibly a blue, not when his imagination was surprisingly strong and could overrule logic.
After another long drink straight from the bottle, R'nd and Ayyonth were headed to the Sands. The blue settled gracefully near Larrikith in time to give her a quick nuzzle of greeting before she was sent on her new task of harassing workers. R'nd silently slipped up to B'jin and even though the greenrider was busy being a 'Master, he reached for B'jin's hand and gave it a light squeeze.
