Watching Aparicus was interesting. When she was farther away, though this position allowed Nejerc to see her expressions more clearly. Odd, though they were. He was fairly certain for a moment her expression had been concerned or fearful. Why would she be concerned or fearful after sitting down at a table with him, granted she hadn't asked to, and he hadn't wanted her there but she had sat down before he could even say 'no'. So then why had she made such a face?
He didn't comment when she mentioned that something was on his mind. It should have been obvious, but at her question he frowned slightly. She was right, it was the candidate lessons that were on his mind, and no it wasn't at the same time. It was the firelizards which held his thoughts at this late hour. The latest lesson had been about firelizards after all, but most of the lessons were about dragons and such so it wasn't the lessons themselves..
He looked up as Seijin joined them in the hall and took a seat nearby. He had seen the wave, but returned no gesture. It wasn't out of disrespect, or dislike there was only one person in the entire weyr he greeted, when they waved and Seijin was not it. Lifting his cup to his lips he turned his attention back to Aparicus as she greeted Seijin in return when she shoved a piece of her food into the basket his eyebrows rose just a small fraction the only hint of his emotions before they returned to normal and he looked back at Seijin.
He probably wouldn't have remembered Seijin's name if Aparicus hadn't mentioned it even though Nejerc also recognized him as being another candidate as well. As Seijin fed his two fire lizards Nejerc watched openly making no attempt to hide his stare. He watched the one, a brown eat like it was going to die if it didn't get more food in it's belly right away, and the other a green on Seijin's shoulder eat like a lady from a hold. The show was... enlightening but only slightly. The firelizards clearly had different personalities like any living thing, and if anything the browns show of hunger spoke volumes about his gullet.
After a minute of watching the display he looked back at Aparicus and stared for a moment. She'd asked a question and though he'd had ample time to think about it he was still conflicted on how to answer after another silent moment he finally came up with an answer and lowered his cup to swallow his gulp of wine. "Yes."
