Talian frowned as he surveyed the scene. Shards...why was he so hungry all of the sudden? Where had his sandwich gone off to?
He was a little bit distracted by the plight of the poor helpless things. They looked so pitiful and hungry! And what was happening to the ones that disappeared? Were they dying? How...how sad. Talian still hadn't come around to fully liking dragons, but he liked to think that he'd bonded with Larrikith and he at least understood how much they meant to people now. They were smart, too! And the sight of these little miniature ones just...creeling and dying was surprisingly hard to take.
Shards, though. Where was that sandwich?
Talian looked down to see that it had been commandeered by the cutest little blue thing, perched lightly atop it while it gorged it's miserable little stomach. Then, the little creature's gratitude latched onto Talian's mind, giving him quite the little jolt. He didn't quite realize that he'd just become the first person to Impress a fire lizard in fifteen turns.
He reached down to pick the sandwich up. The little blue, half-latched to the food and half-latched to Tal's ankle, let out the saddest little sound of protest and spread it's fragile wings across the sandwich. Talian frowned. "...That's...that's bigger than you are, little thing...Bbut..I guess you can have it.." he muttered, his head spinning with a sudden feeling of concern for the poor dear.
He scooped the fire lizard up, sandwich along with it. The creature cheeped warmly as it realized that it had earned, through cuteness, exactly what it wanted: close proximity to food and the attention of the food-giver. Talian frowned again as he cradled the creature, watching as it ate.
"...You're...adorable," he said, still puzzled by his own feeling of attachment. It wasn't overwhelming, but it was noticeable and foreign and weird and...he liked it.
A quick glance around revealed that R'nd was holding one as well. Perhaps others had as well. Talian lightly cleared his throat. "Um...R'nd? Did I just Impress this thing?" he asked dubiously.
The fire lizard cheeped again and suddenly turned its bright eyes up to Talian. The healer looked back at it and frowned yet again. "Oh...Um..what is it you want?" he asked it, knowing better than to expect an answer. Afterwards, he would only watch as the little blue pressed its snout against his finger and began to lick him with gratitude.
Oh shards, it was precious! Had he been wrong about dragons all this time?
