We are going. The words were announced in Erisi's head, making it seem as if he had no choice but to agree to do whatever it was his sharding dragon wanted him to do. Charath had received an image from Ayyonth that was intriguing. She was not nearly old enough to have experience with firelizards, but with the image she received was a valley of emotions. Some she didn't quite understand, and most she did not connect with. Instead, it was intriguing to the young Green. It seemed someone was very uncomfortable with the hatching creatures, and that attracted Charath. She lived to make other people uncomfortable.
Charath got the message that somehow these little dragons were bad, but it was not a deterrent. She did not think that Erisi would be bothered by it either. However, Erisi was unlikely to come with her if she did not provide some sort of explanation or incentive. Her rider was lounging on the beach, idly munching on a fruit. Erisi was lying on his back, sucking out the juices of the fruit that had been stuck between his lips for a few minutes. He was being lazy, which had actually been his standard for the entirety of the camping trip. If Valerian was nearby, he'd be able to drag Erisi onto his feet in no time. For some reason, Valerian was always far more convincing than she was.
But then again, Valerian was amazing, she shouldn't be surprised.
Valerian is waiting for you over that way... naked.
'Ha ha ha.' It was not a laughing sound Erisi responded with, it was actually 'ha ha ha'. He knew his Green was a lying wher.
Fine. The eggs are hatching. Or, some of them are. It'll be interesting and you should come.
'Why do I care?' Suck, suck, suck, on his fruit you perverts.
Someone is not happy that they are hatching, and I like witnessing misery. You like witnessing misery. It'll be fun!
Okay, Erisi was in on this one then. His day had been a little dull, and maybe this was what he needed for things to finally get interesting. Valerian had kept him occupied on more than one occasion, but Erisi tended to cause trouble when he was left to idle about for too long. Now trouble was practically calling to him, and he couldn't resist. He was now curious, and maybe feeling a little vindictive for being 'dragged' along on this trip anyways (never mind the fact that he had signed up for the trip to begin with). The Weyrling climbed onto his Green, not bothering with a saddle and straps since they had no intention of flying for very long. Someone would probably scold him for it, but the day was nice and he did not expect to get blown off of Charath's back.
They landed a little bit behind Ayyonth, and Erisi slid off of Charath's back smoothly. If there was one thing he learned in Weyrling Training, it was how to look cool while climbing off your dragon's back. Yes, that was the one thing of value he took from his Lessons. His first instinct was to steer clear of R'nd because the bluerider had a child in his arms. It couldn't be R'nd's, because the girl seemed to be a little too old... then again, R'nd had probably started early. Ugh. R'nd already had one brat off of Volfetti, which was enough of a deterrent, but now he was clinging to another one.
'Shit! Are those firelizards?' He had stepped around R'nd to see the hatching nest, and was a little taken aback. Erisi had never encountered a firelizard. Like most people, he assumed they had gone extinct in the plague. Most dragonriders regarded them poorly, because they were plague carriers. Erisi wasn't ready to refute that particular idea, and cast a nervous glance back to his Green.
Charath was completely unfazed. Erisi didn't think she was stupid enough to disregard the threat these living things posed. Just think, they probably serve as instant idiot repellant. ...That answered why she seemed so fearless. Maybe she simply did not know better, having never encountered flitters herself before this moment.
'Do you think you're far enough back?'
I'm fine. If I am bothered I will eat one. If Charath was smart enough, she'd use this instant to coin the term 'YOLO' on Pern.
