NOTE: Thread will be unlocked at about midday tomorrow, so that everyone can get a chance to read it and form some idea of how their character/s will react! Enjoy!

Amorandii loved the water, she loved the sand, she loved the way the wind sounded as it made the little waves that were lapping at her bare toes. Her skirt was soaked along the hem, heavy and slapping at her shins as she walked. Her sleeves were short, saving the girl's father from having to roll them up.  Her long blonde hair was braided neatly, but wisps were flying free, tugged loose by the gentle breeze that helped take the sting out of the sun. A large straw hat covered her head, protecting her pale skin from sunburn and freckles. It had been a gift from one of the girl candidates, but Amorandii couldn't remember the lady's name. Daddy approved, though, and Uncle Orwind had told her she was pretty! What more could a little girl want?

Amorandii giggled sweetly as she dipped down to pick up a pretty shell, rinsing it off in the shallow water and holding it up to examine a moment later. It was a soft opalescent colour, sparkling in the sunlight as the little girl tumbled it between her fingers for a moment. Putting the newest shell into the little bag she had borrowed from a different Candidate again (they were so generous!) Amorandii continued her bouncy, skipping walk down the shoreline. A short while later, the little girl picked up another shell, cooing cheerfully over it as the pure white sparkled back at her. It appeared to be half of a small clam-type shell, two sides joined together to form a pair of 'wings'. The little girl rinsed it off in the water, still cooing, and put it into the little bag once more. Her hand then shot up to tilt her hat back, watching as a blue dragon flew over head with a small smile. It wasn't Ayyonth, but that was all Amorandii could tell.

The dragon landed with an exuberant splash in the water, and there was a yelp that she assumed came from a rider. Giggling more, Amorandii continued back down the shore line. She had already come a fair way, and though she knew she shouldn't go too far, Amorandii also knew the dragons wouldn't let anything happen to her. Larrikith was very protective of her, a feed off from her father's over protective nature for the small girl. The weather was fine, the waves no more than cheerful lapping, and she had no plans to go near the forest that started further away. Felines would undoubtedly be in there, and she'd heard fearsome tales from the older children in the Creche of wild Whers (a nasty, ugly variation of the dragon! Amorandii couldn't imagine such a thing!) that would gobble up children and even attack dragons! Amorandii didn't want to become anyone's dinner!

Or lunch. It was much closer to lunch time! The six year olds' stomach grumbled in response to that particular thought and Amorandii paused where she was, frowning thoughtfully. Another little bag was tied to her belt, and it had food in it. But, she didn't really want to eat while she walked in the water, she'd like to sit down and enjoy the lunch another of the Candidate's had packed for her. The young man had been very polite! And he'd even told her everything he was putting into the little bag he'd then tied to her belt, just so, so she wouldn't lose anything - but still be able to undo it.

Gazing around, Amorandii spotted a large (to a six year old) collection of small boulders, and made her way towards them, the sand sticking to her toes and getting flicked up onto the wet hem of her dress as she sunk through the top layer of loose sands. It was warm from the sun, and burned her feet after the cool touch of the water. Giving a childish squeal, Amorandii picked up her skirts and dashed up the beach, leaping bodily onto the first rock and scrambling up it. The girl giggled as she went, inventing a nonsensical game and babbling to herself. Spreading her arms wide, Amorandii pranced delicately across the rocks, then stopped dramatically.

"DADDY!"

Amorandii's shriek was high pitched, the type that demanded attention from anyone that heard it, though she was quite a ways down the beach from where the majority of the Weyr were collected. Larrikith heard her, as she had known she would, and contacted the child swiftly; Andi?! What's wrong? B'jin would kill the entire camp if something happened to the child! Larrikith vanished between from where she'd been sprawled with Ayyonth, reappearing not far from Amorandii, ready to save the girl from felines or pluck her from water. Whatever it was that had caused such a shriek to leave her lips.

It was only as she landed, no danger seen, that Larrikith realised the call from the child had held no fear, only shocked surprise, and a demand that her father come to her. She's fine; can you bring B'jin? Larrikith bespoke the three with a mild manner that suggested she was quite aware of the fact that B'jin was freaking out, and that it was completely unnecessary. She crept closer to the child, curious.

Actually, Larrikith spoke with a shocked undertone, her eyes swirling rapidly with -- she had no emotion to describe what she was currently feeling. Don't bring B'jin. Bring everyone else. They were fucking firelizards! She shot the image to Ayyonth alone, the picture filled with all the emotions Larrikith couldn't name.

Andi? Andi, come here! She wasn't about to let her bonded's little princess near them, but she would be very interested to see who would take to the creatures. But, if this was what was in all those eggs they'd been parading around-! Larrikith sat back on her haunches, still staring at the firelizards trying desperately to escape their eggs, and wrapped a clawed paw possessively around Amorandii.

"What are they?" The three words were barely whispered, blue eyes wide as the little girl stared in wonder. Firelizards... Larrikith whispered back, dumbstruck. She didn't see Amorandii take a meat roll from her little bag.

I still expect to see all these other lovely threads wrapped up! A thread is considered 'dead' after 2 weeks without a reply. I don't expect them wrapped up tonight, but I do expect them to be finished.

Unwrapped threads will lose 175 marks.

R’nd didn’t want to move for several more hours. If there was one thing Ayyonth was good for, it was for resting against on a lazy afternoon on the beach. It was odd how he had snuck away but was still in easy sight of the camp but most of the campers were leaving him alone, likely because both looked so comfortable and they had Larrikith lounging with them as well. She seemed good for keeping certain people away, like Indivara. He had given himself a small break because he had been socialising like crazy the last few days, making sure the Candidates were all okay with camping, letting them know he was there if they had any questions or wanted someone to talk to, and of course, he had spent time with friends like I’shan and B’jin.

Something else that had taken up way more time than he thought possible was looking after Amorandii. That girl could babble! She loved to talk and seemed to think he was the greatest person in the world after her daddy to share every single story she had. It was probably why when a shriek in the distance for a daddy was heard, R’nd didn’t tune it out but sat up straight, knowing it was B’jin’s little girl. Larrikith vanishing a moment later confirmed it but when the little green said everything was fine, R’nd was ready to relax again and go find B’jin but Ayyonth nudged him with his nose to hurry him along before standing which sent R’nd sprawling. B’jin is better off here but you need to see what’s happening over there. Amorandii may need a level-headed guardian.

As a confused R’nd dusted himself off and scrambled up Ayyonth’s side, the blue dragon trembled a little in anticipation of what the discovery would do and shared it with his nearby friends. He reached out to Ilveriath and Veeth, showing them the image Larrikith had shared and telling them to bring their riders along for the show. He also contacted Charath, the green trickster that was growing up to be rather amusing, since R’nd counted Erisi as a friend but also because between Valerian and Erisi, they could get Talian down there as well, assuming Amorandii’s scream didn’t already send him running. With firelizards breaking shell, Ayyonth felt everyone should be there to see it. He wanted a good show with the reactions!

When they arrived with Ayyonth touching down smoothly near his mate and the adorable little girl, R’nd almost missed the commotion off by the boulders with his eyes on Amorandii, verifying with his own eyes that she was indeed okay. It was when he finally heard the creels coming from nearby that he turned and saw the firelizards – and promptly fell off Ayyonth as his dismount went array. Wide-eyed, R’nd scrambled over to Amorandii, dropping to his knees and wrapping an arm around her waist to make sure she stayed right where she was. “Did you go near them? Or touch them?” He couldn’t decide if the call for B’jin had been out of excitement at seeing all the little dragon-like creatures or because one got close and touched or bit her.

He didn’t want to take his eyes off of the creatures he hadn’t seen since he was in his teens, unsure about what they would do, but R’nd wanted to check that Amorandii hadn’t been bit or clawed and first inspection missed it. He was pleased when he didn’t find anything but panic took over when he saw the girl holding some food. “Amorandii, you can’t have that right now!” he’d apologise later if he upset her by grabbing the meatroll from her hand and taking the bag as well when he realised it had her lunch in it. One thing he remembered about firelizards was the way they Impressed. It was the dream of all young boys to find a clutch and Impress one. It wasn’t unheard of to go hunting for them with a bag of food just in case a Hatching was stumbled upon and the little guys took to you because of the food you presented.

B’jin would certainly kill him if he let Amorandii Impress a firelizard by accident because the girl was only trying to feed herself at the wrong moment.

We are going. The words were announced in Erisi's head, making it seem as if he had no choice but to agree to do whatever it was his sharding dragon wanted him to do. Charath had received an image from Ayyonth that was intriguing. She was not nearly old enough to have experience with firelizards, but with the image she received was a valley of emotions. Some she didn't quite understand, and most she did not connect with. Instead, it was intriguing to the young Green. It seemed someone was very uncomfortable with the hatching creatures, and that attracted Charath. She lived to make other people uncomfortable.

Charath got the message that somehow these little dragons were bad, but it was not a deterrent. She did not think that Erisi would be bothered by it either. However, Erisi was unlikely to come with her if she did not provide some sort of explanation or incentive. Her rider was lounging on the beach, idly munching on a fruit. Erisi was lying on his back, sucking out the juices of the fruit that had been stuck between his lips for a few minutes. He was being lazy, which had actually been his standard for the entirety of the camping trip. If Valerian was nearby, he'd be able to drag Erisi onto his feet in no time. For some reason, Valerian was always far more convincing than she was.

But then again, Valerian was amazing, she shouldn't be surprised.

Valerian is waiting for you over that way... naked.

'Ha ha ha.' It was not a laughing sound Erisi responded with, it was actually 'ha ha ha'. He knew his Green was a lying wher.

Fine. The eggs are hatching. Or, some of them are. It'll be interesting and you should come.

'Why do I care?' Suck, suck, suck, on his fruit you perverts.

Someone is not happy that they are hatching, and I like witnessing misery. You like witnessing misery. It'll be fun!

Okay, Erisi was in on this one then. His day had been a little dull, and maybe this was what he needed for things to finally get interesting. Valerian had kept him occupied on more than one occasion, but Erisi tended to cause trouble when he was left to idle about for too long. Now trouble was practically calling to him, and he couldn't resist. He was now curious, and maybe feeling a little vindictive for being 'dragged' along on this trip anyways (never mind the fact that he had signed up for the trip to begin with). The Weyrling climbed onto his Green, not bothering with a saddle and straps since they had no intention of flying for very long. Someone would probably scold him for it, but the day was nice and he did not expect to get blown off of Charath's back.

They landed a little bit behind Ayyonth, and Erisi slid off of Charath's back smoothly. If there was one thing he learned in Weyrling Training, it was how to look cool while climbing off your dragon's back. Yes, that was the one thing of value he took from his Lessons. His first instinct was to steer clear of R'nd because the bluerider had a child in his arms. It couldn't be R'nd's, because the girl seemed to be a little too old... then again, R'nd had probably started early. Ugh. R'nd already had one brat off of Volfetti, which was enough of a deterrent, but now he was clinging to another one.

'Shit! Are those firelizards?' He had stepped around R'nd to see the hatching nest, and was a little taken aback. Erisi had never encountered a firelizard. Like most people, he assumed they had gone extinct in the plague. Most dragonriders regarded them poorly, because they were plague carriers. Erisi wasn't ready to refute that particular idea, and cast a nervous glance back to his Green.

Charath was completely unfazed. Erisi didn't think she was stupid enough to disregard the threat these living things posed. Just think, they probably serve as instant idiot repellant. ...That answered why she seemed so fearless. Maybe she simply did not know better, having never encountered flitters herself before this moment.

'Do you think you're far enough back?'

I'm fine. If I am bothered I will eat one. If Charath was smart enough, she'd use this instant to coin the term 'YOLO' on Pern.

Talian was...half-enjoying the trip. It was immensely stupid, yes, but it was nice to be away from the Weyr and have time to daydream and brainstorm. He'd spent most of the trip harvesting plants and writing out ideas for his project, though occasionally he had to remind himself not to be consumed by it. That was a big part of Talian's personality, though...obsession. It was easy for him to be too fixed on one particular task or event, and with the young man' recent history kept in mind, a cure for his father's allergy was a merciful choice of obsession.

He strolled along the edges of the lake, a sandwich in hand, as he went over his latest ideas. He was in a pleasant mood, quiet and unburdened by his troubles. The weather was nice and he was far enough away to enjoy the quiet without being so far away that he'd have to worry about getting lost or inciting some sort of panic that he'd run away.

For this reason, Talian was alarmed when he emerged from the trees to see a couple dragons lingering nearby. When had they arrived? Hadn't they been across the lake when he weaved into the trees only minutes before?

Was that Andi?

Tal had been trying to get to know the little girl more lately. B'jin had emphasized how badly Andi wanted to follow in her 'big brother's' footsteps, and in all honesty, Talian rather liked the idea of having a family. It was dicey, though. Talian was awkward and had little teaching skill, and he often felt like the little girl was made of glass. He tried hard, though, and he was quickly growing fond of her.

When he saw her among the dragons, he decided to go see what was going on. There looked to be some kind of commotion! He was cautioned only for a moment when he saw R'nd; Tal still didn't fully trust the man, but enough medical run-ins and B'jin-crises had shown that the man wasn't so bad. Eri, of course, was always a welcome sight.

The healer decided he'd been antisocial enough through the course of the week and walked over. "Hello. What's g-....What are those?" His eyes widened as he caught sight of the creatures nestled in the sand. What were they, little miniature dragons? It looked like they were babies, only just hatching! Talian quickly scanned the area, but saw no signs of adults... undoubtedly scared off of the activity.

He was so surprised, fascinated, and entranced by the little things before him that he unwittingly dropped his sandwich.

"Are they...what I think they are?"

Indivara was following her usual daily routine. A late morning breakfast, followed by hunting down Kerrin and investing in the usual playful banter that had quickly devolved into a loud and obnoxious bitch fight. Indivara was pretty sure Kerrin had about as much idea what it was they were fighting about at this point as she did. The teen-aged weyrbrat was pretty sure they had covered just about every subject from Ayyonth to Z'ia and everything in between. So, naturally, it devolved further to petty name calling and shoulder shoving. Indivara, not even reaching five feet, had a tendency to be sent flying. In response, she tackled Kerrin bodily and sent them both tumbling to the sand - which she rapidly rubbed into Kerrin's hair, cackling with victory.

Indivara knew an action like that should have resulted in far more of a reaction from Kerrin than the way he froze suddenly, then frowned; there had been outrage in his eyes at first, and the promise of sending her flying across the beach... Indivara blinked, confused as he pushed her gently off him and stood up. He even offered her a hand, which she took, dumbfounded. "Wha-?" Her eyes narrowed as Kerrin's face took on the familiar expression that meant Ayyonth was talking to him. The girl suddenly smirked smugly; was the pretty blue scolding their friend for his being mean to her?

Indivara's smug self satisfaction was dropped as Kerrin turned absently away from her, his fingers dropping hers in the process and the girl crossed her arms over her chest and resisted the urge to tap her foot irritably before following his gaze. "What!?" she suddenly demanded, squealing in surprise and rage as Kerrin suddenly took off up the beach in a sprint. Apparently, she was missing out on something Indivara realised with irritation as she took off after her friend, short legs pumping while dragons popped out of between and people seemed to appear from no where just as swiftly.

Kerrin had longer legs than she did, and it took effort on the girl's part to catch up with the young man, giving him a heavy handed shove as she passed him and send him toppling to the sands. She gave a crow of success and continued her sprint towards the group while he picked himself up and dashed after her. Indivara slowed as she reached the group, confusion and curiosity warring on her face as she went around Ayyonth, purposefully travelling on the far side of Larrikith, and glanced towards R'nd.

Well. Faranth be damned! Indivara suddenly gave a sudden breathlessly girlish shriek of laugher, smirking evilly at R'nd. "I hope you enjoyed your sex this morning, 'cause you are so never getting laid ever again!"

Aparicus had managed to perfect sitting at the cooking fire without actually being in anyone’s way or usual path over the last few days at the camp site.  Thanks to this, she was able to help prepare lunch with a few of the other women while over listening to gossip.  Wrapping another meatroll carefully before placing it on a tray between her and another woman, she was in the middle of listening to such gossip about the eggs everyone had been finding and collecting (she even had one of her own!) when the dragons began reaching out to all of the candidates, telling them that they were needed upon the beach and QUICKLY!

Blinking, Aparicus stood up, her hands full of wrapping another meat roll when the other women dropped what they’d been doing to all grab meatrolls and run off toward the beach.  Wait, why were they all grabbing meat rolls?  Unsure, but certainly not wanting to be the last candidate present for a lesson, she put her half-done meatroll into one hand as she used the other to hike up her own skirts and sprinted after the group.

When she approached the growing group, it was everything the poor woman could do to stay out of the way and still see what was going on without bumping into another person or dragon as even the dragons seemed to be coming to see the commotion.  Soon enough, however, she was past the dragons and the only danger was the people --- the people and the whole nest of eggs that seemed to be hatching between the stones on the beach.

A gasp left her mouth as she dropped her hiked up skirts to cover her lips in awe at the little flecks of color emerging that soon showed themselves to be little miniature dragons!  Were these the firelizards she’d heard about back home?  She’d never been able to see them as a child, her cothold being too poor and too far north, but if she had a guess, these would have been it.  They were nearly perfect replicas of the dragons now standing behind the group watching with as much interest as the riders and candidates.

Another person stepped in front of her, blocking her view and she frowned.  Stepping to the side, she carefully searched out another spot where she could peek around bodies and watch the little ones hatch – completely having forgotten the half-rolled meatroll in her hand.

The little girl's shriek had sent the adults fleeing, taking food and welcoming emotions with them as they vanished between fearfully. The feral gold watched from the trees, hidden amongst the leaves with her fair, eyes hot with anger but fear was stronger. As the gathering grew, the little queen finally gave up; her babies were doomed! Taking her fellow firelizards, the little gold firelizard vanished between taking them far away from the death and destruction of her babies.

Creeling, crying, and starving the firelizards began to peel themselves from the inside of their shells, uncaring about the audience they had gathered. Food, food, food! Eyes swirled with their stomach wrenching hunger, teeth flashing as two brown took to each other, snapping and snarling before one vanished between. The other struggled, flapping his little wings and finally took off, fluttering over the heads of the young men and women surrounding the nest and vanishing into the forest not too far away. With a screech, sea-side Wherries appeared above, circling anxiously for a tender snack. The second little brown vanished between moments before he became dinner.

The nest was large, perhaps as many or even more than fifteen eggs. The babies were starving and their hunger was broadcast for human and dragon alike to feel, and respond to. Who could let a baby go hungry?! A blue shuddered out of the remains of his shell, toppling into the sand and burying his  nose in the warm sands, crying out unhappily before his tone changed to a shriek of delight, nose reappearing to find a sandwich right in front of him. Crooning and chittering, the tiny creature threw itself on the sandwich, wings flared as he hissed and spit at the blue that had come creeping up behind him, hoping for some piece of the feast. The first little blue hissed threateningly, backing up and dragging the sandwich along with him, until he hit Talian's feet. Suspicious eyes glanced up, before deciding the human was the one that had given him the gift. Crooning happily, the little blue sprawled on one of Talian's feet, wrapping his tail tightly around Talian's ankle and clinging with his hind feet to Talian's own. His front paws and teeth were dramatically occupied with stuffing his face.

The little blue that had been hoping to steal from his brother sulked pitifully, creeling unhappily where he sat with his wings spread pathetically. Then a smell and suddenly excited the little creature scrabbled to his feet and flung himself in the direction from which the scent was coming, crooning, creeling and squeaking with excitement as he latched on to R'nd's wrist, managing to eat half the meat roll in one bite, tail wrapped around R'nd's wrist and down along his arm. His little clawed feet clung desperately to his hand while he gobbled down the food, unintentionally sinking his teeth into R'nd's thumb in the process. He creeled guilty at the shooting pain he felt in the human, and gave him a pathetically apologetic expression, nuzzling his little blue nose against R'nd's hand lovingly.

Another blue firelizard burst the shell, while little greens struggled for freedom, two of them hissing and spitting at hopeful attempts to Impress them, flinging themselves into the air and flying away, uninterested in the great monsters their brothers had chosen to bond to, seeking freedom and the world at large; before they'd taken too far from the group of humans, one green was captured in the claws of a seaside Wherry, a screech of success from the hunter, a terrified shriek from the victim. Both vanished between as the firelizard attempted to save herself, unintentionally killing them both. Her sister loosed a vicious hiss and vanished between, presumably to somewhere safe - if a baby firelizard knew where to find such a thing.

The expedition was more than enough for the little blue firelizard to decide that the act of his sisters was just damned stupid and he threw himself swiftly after the scent of blood, his stomach grumbling and little teeth bared as the firelizard latched onto Indivara's big toe and chomped down. The shriek and sudden kick of his perch just had the creature digging his little teeth in more, tail wrapping around her leg and little feet clinging with sharp little pinprick claws to the girl as she danced around, cursing.

In the centre of the clutch, lost amongst the shades of her siblings, the little firelizard baby removed herself regally from her egg shell, watching placidly as her brothers stuffed their faces with great gusto, utterly disgusting and so typically male! The little one snorted, ignoring the sudden hush as her pretty gold hide glinted in the sunshine. Her nose twitched, smelling something good and she crooned, blue-green eyes looking for the foundation of such a delicious scent. A moment later, the little gold firelizard hatchling was scrambling over the top of her siblings, hissing at a brown, scratching a blue on top of the head (and making him face plant) before she was clawing her way up Erisi's leg and licking the fruit juice off his lips. Her tail wrapped around his neck with almost choking force, her little claws digging into his face and neck.

There was so much commotion all at once! People started to appear, which only drew R’nd’s attention long enough to confirm B’jin wasn’t there yet before staring at the firelizards again. They were so beautiful! But they were potentially dangerous as well. When Ayyonth shuffled behind him, moving closer to Larrikith, R’nd panicked that his dragon was going to get too close to the critters blamed for the plague and mentally flailed and told the dragon not to take a step closer. Outwardly, he tried to stay calm since he didn’t want to worry Amorandii and now he had weyrlings and Candidates appearing, making him the oldest and therefore wisest – Ayyonth snorted at that thought – of the group. In theory, he had the most experience with the firelizards and while he did remember them before they vanished with the plague, that didn’t exactly make him an expert on them or leave him with the knowledge that they were safe now or even the same type as the past ones.

Before he could tell the gawkers to get back or, better yet, return to camp, Indivara appeared, stealing his attention with a comment about not getting laid. He knew exactly what she was talking about and who would be denying her but for a brief second, all R’nd could think was that it sounded like he had slept with the brat that morning and she was now refusing to give him more sex. The look Kerrin gave them both confirmed he hadn’t been the only one to consider that a possibility. “B’jin! She means B’jin! And I know, this is not good for my s—” R’nd suddenly stopped talking as he recalled the little girl he was holding in place and started panicking that B’jin would withhold sex because he was talking about it in front of Amorandii. This was not turning into a good day!

When he felt something attacking his hand, something soft wrapping around his wrist and arm before little pricks were felt along his hand, R’nd was momentarily confused as his gaze had been travelling from Indivara to Kerrin to Amorandii. With the sharp pain to his thumb, R’nd yelped and found himself staring at the cause, grey eyes about to pop from his head as realisation sank in. He had a firelizard – an albeit pretty blue one – attached to him, eating from his offerings, and suddenly giving him an apologetic look with an adorable little nuzzle.

Did he just Impress a firelizard?

He didn’t mean to! Was it possible to undo it? He really didn’t need this complication in his life! But the little guy really was adorable even though he could potentially wipe out the dragons surrounding him. Ayyonth, Larrikith! Stay away! I don’t know if it’s safe for you. He was doomed. So very doomed. And his thumb hurt. Indivara didn’t know how right she was with her prediction he wasn’t going to get laid again. R’nd would be lucky if B’jin even spoke to him again! Maybe trying to keep his dragon away from the flitters would help earn him some points?

Apparently Amorandii didn’t see it that way as she squealed with excitement and bounced around in his grip that refused to let go in case she wanted to frolic with the critters all around them. He heard something about Uncle Orwind making a new friend, an adorable blue friend, just like Talian had, but R’nd couldn’t quite reach the same level of excitement, not even to pretend for her benefit. He should tell the girl to return to camp with Larrikith but other than the order for the dragons to stay away, R’nd couldn’t quite form words aloud or all that much more mentally as he continued to stare at the firelizard accessory he just acquired.

Talian frowned as he surveyed the scene. Shards...why was he so hungry all of the sudden? Where had his sandwich gone off to?

He was a little bit distracted by the plight of the poor helpless things. They looked so pitiful and hungry! And what was happening to the ones that disappeared? Were they dying? How...how sad. Talian still hadn't come around to fully liking dragons, but he liked to think that he'd bonded with Larrikith and he at least understood how much they meant to people now. They were smart, too! And the sight of these little miniature ones just...creeling and dying was surprisingly hard to take.

Shards, though. Where was that sandwich?

Talian looked down to see that it had been commandeered by the cutest little blue thing, perched lightly atop it while it gorged it's miserable little stomach. Then, the little creature's gratitude latched onto Talian's mind, giving him quite the little jolt. He didn't quite realize that he'd just become the first person to Impress a fire lizard in fifteen turns.

He reached down to pick the sandwich up. The little blue, half-latched to the food and half-latched to Tal's ankle, let out the saddest little sound of protest and spread it's fragile wings across the sandwich. Talian frowned. "...That's...that's bigger than you are, little thing...Bbut..I guess you can have it.." he muttered, his head spinning with a sudden feeling of concern for the poor dear.

He scooped the fire lizard up, sandwich along with it. The creature cheeped warmly as it realized that it had earned, through cuteness, exactly what it wanted: close proximity to food and the attention of the food-giver. Talian frowned again as he cradled the creature, watching as it ate.

"...You're...adorable," he said, still puzzled by his own feeling of attachment. It wasn't overwhelming, but it was noticeable and foreign and weird and...he liked it.

A quick glance around revealed that R'nd was holding one as well. Perhaps others had as well. Talian lightly cleared his throat. "Um...R'nd? Did I just Impress this thing?" he asked dubiously.

The fire lizard cheeped again and suddenly turned its bright eyes up to Talian. The healer looked back at it and frowned yet again. "Oh...Um..what is it you want?" he asked it, knowing better than to expect an answer. Afterwards, he would only watch as the little blue pressed its snout against his finger and began to lick him with gratitude.

Oh shards, it was precious! Had he been wrong about dragons all this time?

Re-dressed and back walking the shore, Jada had gone to acquire a meat roll for her lunch. The time she had spent with Ellaira that afternoon had been fantastic, and Jada did hope that she had somehow made a new friend. Something that she would very much like, if it came to pass. Munching on the meat rolls, the Harper was back to roaming the beach, pulling bits of the roll off with her fingers when she had the urge to take another bite. Roaming around was a nice vacation from reality. No classes, no courses, no deadlines- not til tomorrow, when the Candidate Camping trip would be over and she would be back to observing D'ren and leaning to push paper. At least she was good at it.

The alarm that seemed to go off didn't escape her notice, through Krypth. Details were muddled, but auditory stimulation followed in a few moments more. A shriek, or two, and then Krypth's demand racing through her head, Jada, GO! It was something exciting! And terrifying, but safe enough for her human. Krypth wanted a 'firsthand' look at what was going on! It was a commotion. A mess, truth be told, and Jada scurried her way there obediently, her curiosity driving her forward. She bumped into someone, knocked off balance, and reached out, grabbing Indivara's shoulder for balance.

"What's happening?" she asked breathlessly, and hardly waited for an answer before she realized what was happening and breathed, "No." No way! Dragona, and- firelizards? Little dragons, and they were hungry, so hungry. The Masterhealer had one in his hands, and Erisi had one in his- on his- face. A shimmering gold, licking at his lips. And- her view was blocked by another body stepping in the way, but Jada already had the idea of what was going on. Firelizards are Hatching?

Shards and Shells, the Weyr was going to explode. Stories said that Firelizards were the reason the dragons had gone extinct, that they were the bearers of plague and disease. But they had been gone so long now, and if they were coming alive, could that not mean the plague was gone? It couldn't be a coincidence. It had to mean that they were growing more populous... which meant the sharp knife of the plague had stopped cutting through the population of the dragon's little cousins. Right? Was she willing to risk Krypth? Was anyone else willing to risk their dragons on a hope? And what if they were wrong? What if it was just luck of the draw? The right place at the right time?

Or the wrong place at the wrong time.

Her mind whirled, and Jada sank her teeth into her bottom lip, giving it a firm tug.

"Blood sucking, mother fucking son of a little --! LET GO!" Indivara's toe was still being gnawed on by a firelizard, the girl's immediate reaction to kick her foot out and toss the creature from it having been met with sinking teeth and a tightening of the tail. It fucking hurt too! The carnivorous little cunt just wouldn't let go! "GET OFF!" Indivara kicked out again, toppling backwards into Jada even as her arm swept out and bashed into Kerrin's chest. Indivara yipped, grabbing the goldrider and using her to haul herself upright properly, glaring down at her foot.

"I hate you." Indivara stated quite frankly, and without any extreme emotion, as the firelizard continued to chew on her toe, licking with his little tongue and Indivara's nose scrunched up. She was far too occupied with her own little monster to pay any attention to anyone else and their little bundles of horror. "Give me that!" Indivara reached over, snatching the lunch bag he'd taken off Amorandii to dig through it, pulling out a redfruit she crouched down carefully, taking care not to put weight on her foot and squish the baby firelizard. She shoved the fruit under its nose, waving her other hand impatiently at a second flitt that looked in her direction. "Don't even think about it, you little bastard!"

The blue on her toe let go, causing Indivara to gasp in relief, even as he launched at her hand and began attacking the redfruit with gusto, causing Indivara to giggle. Then he bit her fingers, drawing blood, and Indivara flung her arm, which only made the blue sing his teeth in deeper, and cling with tiny claws and a strangling hold with his tail. Indivara cursed, scowling viciously at Kerrin when he made a snide comment, and grabbing the little firelizard by the wings, her hands low and near the joints, she jerked him off her hand and glared into his face. The little blue's tongue darted out to lick her nose.

"If you get me kicked out of Candidacy," Indivara growled at the firelizard she was holding up, refusing the urge to wipe her nose free of firelizard spit, "I'm going to cook you for dinner. Blood sucking little fucker." The little blue chirped cheerfully at her, and Indivara sighed dramatically, shoving the creature into the crook of her other arm and watching his fat belly, full of her own flesh and the redfruit, settle into the placid rhythmic breaths of sleep.

"Fucking Brilliant." Sarcasm rolled off the single word. B'jin was going to slaughter the lot of them. Her gaze shifted darkly to look at Talian when she heard his quiet question, aimed at R'nd, and she kicked the bluerider in the rump lightly, watching with upraised eyebrows as he continued to stare dumbly at his firelizard.

"The glows are on, but the owner is so not home, Talian. And yeah, you are stuck with that little fucker." She paused, and nodded at R'nd, smirking wickedly. "Remember how angry B'jin got when some idiot suggested the eggs might be firelizards..?" She snickered and gave R'nd another kick to the rump. "Oi! Lover boy! You might want to get that brat out of here before she attracts any more."

She was getting out of there before she attracted any more; her toe was bleeding, and one blood thirsty carnivorous human eating firelizard was more than enough. Limping slightly, Indivara slunk down to the lake edge, rinsing her toe off and frowning at it thoughtfully. Lifting her foot up, the girl poked at it, then shrugged. She doubted it needed stitches and she'd shove it in Talian's face tomorrow or whenever if it didn't heal by itself.

He was going to miss this, Echlerov decided, glancing up at the clouds while leaning against his blue. It was relaxing to just sit on the beach, spending time only with his blue, something that didn't happen as often as it should. Maybe he'd just have to start scheduling a day like this every couple of sevendays.

I would like that, Pistoth commented, his eyes a contented blue. The bustle of the weyr is nice, but sometimes it is nice to be alone.

Echlerov couldn't help but agree. "And it's only going to get more hectic." This would make the second batch of weyrlings before his group had even graduated, and he had to wonder about that. Did younger queens rise more often than the older ones? It wasn't a question that he felt was correct for him to ask, but maybe if he asked Jisra, she might be able to get an answer for that. She was standing as a queen candidate, and that sort of thing would come far better from her than it would him.

He remained there for a while longer, munching on a redfruit, until something caught Pistoth's interest. Something is going on, Pisoth commented, nudging Echlerov from where they were lying on the beach. We are going!

He pushed at his human until Echlerov stood up, the redfruit still in the boy's hand. Hurry! The urgency in his dragon's voice was odd, but he darted down the beach, showing up at the party just as the first bunch of firelizards had impressed.

Well what do you know, there were firelizards after all.

The noontide was warm and pleasant, a little bit cloudy. Ellaira was clean (clean!) and had just eaten. She was comfortable, and perhaps even happy, with a little bit of water in her hair and hot food in her belly. From the top of a tree, she surveyed the lakeside, enjoying her alone time immensely. But there... people and dragons streaking to a location nearby. What...?

Ellaira dropped out of the tree and jogged in the direction that the people had been going. It was really strange to see something like that, and mentally she cursed her inability to hear draconic conversations flying across the air, just beyond her reach. If only...! But what was she going to do? Grow headknobs?

She crested the hill and stared down at the scene. It was impossible - incredible - and suddenly she felt stupid for her denial of the survival of fire-lizards. Because what else could they be? The arrival of Echlerov just in front of her sparked her into action, and she jogged up to him, breathing hard - more from excitement and shock than exertion. "I guess I was wrong," she said to the bluerider. "Fire-lizards aren't extinct after all."

Seijin saw Echlerov leaving the beach and went to hurry and catch up with him.  "Hey Echlerov have you seen ..." He stopped in mid sentence having noticed what Echlerov had seen cause now he was seeing it as well. And he couldn't believe his eyes.  He forgot what he was going to ask Echlerov when he heard him say they were firelizards after all.  His eyes turned quickly back to his bluerider friend and his mind quickly grasped what he had just said out-loud.  " It appears so"  He smiled at Ellaira having heard what she said to Echlerov as well about her having been wrong. " Hi, Ellaira nice to see you? Look like none of us where right about what the egg could of been. " Everyone had heard the rumors but he didn't think anyone really held much belief in what they were thinking about it themselves. After all Rumors where that just rumors until they were proven as truth by the facts.

Of course facts were saying that the eggs they were finding around the lake were in fact firelizards. He still couldn't believe it even when he saw it with his own eyes. Course he didn't have the fear that the riders seemed to have of them. He looked back to Echlerov and wondered how he felt about all this.

Erisi screeched, outright screeched when a flitter attached itself to his face. He had been distracted by Talian Impressing a little blue firelizard, and then the next thing he knew there was a flash of yellow in front of his face and he was being attacked. Claws dug into his cheeks, and he felt a tail coil tightly around his neck. The Weyrling was taken by surprise, stumbling a few steps back to try and get the creature off of his face. It was as if the gold was a permanent attachment, because even when he fell flat on his ass she remained glued to his face. He hadn't even felt the sharding thing panic when he freaked out! She was just satisfied that she got the taste of sweet redfruit.

So, the Green Weyrling was sitting on the ground for a few moments before he realized that she was not attacking his face, but rather giving him an impromptu  makeout session of the worst kind. 'OH GOD CHARATH GET HER OFF ME.'

Charath's response was to laugh cruelly at her bonded, and then send an image of Erisi on the ground with a firelizard licking his lips to Veeth. She knew the Blue would be dutiful enough to relay the image to Valerian. As an afterthought, her dark voice reached out to Veeth, I think Erisi may need help. It is not letting go. She still sounded deeply amused by her bonded's plight. Erisi had little time to actually think about what firelizards hatching meant, or what having one attached to his face meant. The young man was too busy trying to get her off.

Charath found her charming. Erisi was struggling to wrap his hand around her belly without getting in the way of her wings. When he finally did manage to grab her, she screeched at him and dug her claws harder into his face, determined to sate her sweet tooth. At this rate, she'd be picking out pieces of fruit from the poor man's teeth. They struggled like this for a minute, wills almost visibly lashing out at each other. Funny how it was Erisi who caved in first. A sigh was breathed from between clenched teeth, and he laid down on the ground. Someone would rescue him. Obviously not his Green, but if he looked annoyed and pitiful enough, someone would help him wrestle the gold off of his face.

'I hate you.'

I thought you wanted some 'action'! Charath crooned.

'I hate you a lot.'

She's the first girl I've seen you get it on with!

'I hate you the most! ...Wait, what SEEN?'

Talian's new companion crooned, his tiny body rumbling with pleasure as he nestled into the crook of the young man's arm. The healer himself was still speechless, completely mesmerized by the little beast while also questioning if he actually liked this intrusion or not. Tal couldn't help but pity the little thing, though. It's helplessnes appealed to his healer's instincts, and perhaps those of an unresolved parent as well. It needed him.

Speaking of needing him...Talian thought he had a name, but he banished the thought as soon as it brushed the back of his mind. He couldn't even be sure that he could keep the thing alive, and if he named it he was going to get all attached to it! Bewildered, he shook his head at the creature while it lovingly nuzzled him.

Shards, he was already attached to it. How could this happen.

He was distracted from his distress by, appropriately enough, someone else's distress. The healer spun around to see Erisi in distress, his face assaulted by a tiny little gold. Tal's eyes widened and his new companion cheeped in distress; something had upset daddy! Tal instinctively placed his free hand over the little creature to reassure it as he took a step closer. "Um, Eri? I think it likes you..."

What could he do about it without losing his hand? Talian frowned, then reached out to delicately try and pry the little gold off of Eri's face. The blue clung to Talian's sleeve, watching with questioning curiosity as his sister attacked her food-giver. Why would she do that? The little blue loved his food-giver! He squeaked, as if reassuring Talian that he would never attack his face.

Talian wasn't quite sure how he got that particular message from a squeak, but shards. If it worked, it worked.

"Eri? Are you okay?"

The little blue firelizard kept staring at him! It looked like it was pouting and it reminded R’nd of someone with that expression. He shook off any comparisons since they weren’t important. What was important was he was still a bit hungry and getting tired. Wait, what? No, he wasn’t! He had a full meal recently and wasn’t in need of nap time. Grey eyes widened when he realised the sensations were coming from the blue that he sort of wanted to give in to and pet. The chirp he received in response made it clear that the little guy thought he was in need of such attention as well. He was close to giving in when a kick to his behind was given, words were spoken at him, and another kick given.

It actually took several seconds for any of that to register as R’nd was still in shock and his reaction time had slowed considerably. It also didn’t help that he had Ayyonth laughing in his mind and stating how precious the mini version of himself was. R’nd shot a glance behind him to where Indivara was standing with a blue flitter of her own and his eyes suddenly widened when all of her points sank in with clarity. B’jin would kill them all for being near firelizards, would kill him again for Impressing one, and then because that wasn’t enough, a third death would follow, this one more painful and slow because R’nd let Amorandii stay near the nest. Again he almost forgot he was holding the girl steady even with Indivara’s comment. It was only when a small hand reached out to pet the blue bracelet he had acquired that R’nd sprang into action and jumped to his feet.

The little guy – which would need a name soon before he ended up only as ‘the little guy’ and R’nd wondered why he was considering names when he was about to be a dead man thrice over – clung on a bit harder but at least he didn’t bite this time. He was a quick learner which was nice. “C’mon, Amorandii. I bet you can see better from atop Larrikith or Ayyonth. There’s so much happening at once, isn’t there!” He tried to play chipper and friendly, but he was still worried about what everything currently happened meant.

When Amorandii still wanted to pet the pretty little blue, R’nd lifted his hand higher which the silly thing took as an invitation to jump to the top of R’nd’s head and make himself at home. R’nd blinked. Did he seriously have a firelizard chilling on his head? He imagined it was ridiculously cute and that only made everything that much worse!

“What’s his name, Uncle Orwind?” R’nd glanced down at the little girl, surprised she voiced the question he had been thinking about a moment ago. Then again, Ayyonth had probably passed along the idea to ask him since it would only add to his frazzled state. That evil dragon!

“I… hadn’t… I don’t…” He fell silent. Again, why name something when he didn’t have much time left alive? Also, he didn’t mean to Impress the sweet little guy that wanted more cuddling! “Rell,” he finally said, going with a name he hadn’t spoken in about half his life time. His sister’s name was Eridella but when he was little he could only say Airell. When he was older, he switched to calling her Rell as his own personal name for her. He loved her so much and she was likely the one person he missed the most since packing up everything to follow a bluerider on a whim that everything would work out well. Well, it had up until about five minutes ago when he Impressed a firelizard!

Apari had watched so far with wide eyed fear as the little firelizards were slowly dispersing to either vanish to that place the dragons called between or to be eaten by nearby Wherries.  She had half a mind to start shouting ‘shoo’ and trying to scatter the Wherries, but she soon noticed how a few of the firelizards were brave enough to venture toward the people who had gathered.  Those ones seemed relatively safe and the last thing she wanted to do was cause a commotion that would scare more of them between.  After all, she didn’t know where they were going, or if they’d ever come out of that cold dark place again once they were in it.  Who knew little dragons could jump between at such a young age!  Or fly for that matter!  They were only minutes out of their shell!

Unsure of what to do, she turned toward R’nd, being the senior rider there but stopped before she even took a few steps in his direction.  His hands seemed to already be full with a little blue firelizard as well as the candidate master’s daughter.  The words of the candidate master threatening anyone for considering that their eggs might be firelizards ran through her mind and she paled a little as she looked back at the scene.

Shards and Shells, what would B’jin say about this?  Not only was a blue attached to R’nd, but there was another being cradled in Talian’s arm, a blue attacking Indivara… wait.. attacking?!  And a beautiful gold seemed to be attacking another greenrider as well!  Wait… was it attacking or kissing him?  In all the commotion it was hard to tell, but another look in the master healer’s direction made Apari want to believe that perhaps the little gold was kissing rather than attacking – Talian’s blue looked perfectly friendly… friendly and sweet and cuddly.  Of course there was no doubt in Apari’s mind that the blue with Indivara was nothing of the sort.

Then her eyes fell on the Goldrider Jada.  She didn’t have a child in her arms or a firelizard seemingly attached to her.  Surely someone of her rank would know what to do!  Moving over, she quickly excused herself and made her presence known without actually touching the woman.

“E-excuse me, Goldrider Jada?  W-what should we do?  Candidate Master B’jin had spoken out very strongly against firelizards, but the little things are being eaten by the Wherries or disappearing between!  Are they safe between?”  She asked, concern over the little creatures clear in her voice.  After all, Aparicus wouldn’t even wish harm on the pest beetles that plagued her spice garden.

The little blues just kept on coming, and the next little fellow was no exception. While two little greens once more broke shell and took to the skies, fighting for freedom rather than Impressing to a human, the little blue followed the example set for him by his brothers, and his regal sister as she perched on Erisi's face. Which, to the little blue, seemed like a perfectly logical place to discover food. After all, his memories told him that was the most common way to receive food from an adult. A lack of mature firelizards, however, phased the hatchling not. After all, his siblings had discovered food-givers in these large creatures!

As his excited little eyes stared up at the humans, the little blue finally spotted something that definitely looked edible. Deliciously, spectacularly, wonderfully edible! Little blue wings flung out, the tiny firelizard threw himself at the meatroll still held loosely in Aparicus' fingers, tearing the item from her grip and smashing face first with his new bounty into Ellaria's chest. The little blue clung to his meal, shoving half of it into his face as he quickly scrambled up her chest and curled around her neck, tail twining tightly while crumbs fell down her cleavage.

The little creature frowned when Indivara waved irritably in his face, obviously shooing him away. Well, then! Like many of his brothers, the little brown firelizard had decided that taking to one of the giant ugly creatures would be far less terrifying and risky than the attempt to leave the nest (literally) and fly away... wherever it was his sisters thought they were going when they took off. So, he had attempted to find comfort with the girl that was prying a blue off her toe, figuring that with her attention on that firelizard, she wouldn't notice another sneaking up for some dinner.

How wrong he was! Sulking, the little brown sat miserably as the girl moved off, watching sadly before his distress coloured eyes picked up something important -- A PIECE OF MEATROLL! It was being held absently, obviously forgotten about, in the fingers of a young woman. Her attention was elsewhere, her gaze far away, and he knew, without a doubt -- that meat roll was his! With a shrill twitter of delight, the little brown launched himself at Jada's fingers, tail and hind feet wrapping around her arm while he grasped her hand with his forefeet and delicately plucked the picking from her fingers.

It was so pathetic an amount! Obviously a piece Jada had plucked from the real source, it barely filled the tiny flitter's mouth, never mind his stomach! Looking up at the woman pathetically, the little brown gave a sulky whine. More, please!

I was always under the impression that firelizards have ancestral memories. I could be wrong, but work with me here XD Blue went to bed so I can't pick his brain XD

Ellaira: Blue
Jada: Brown

Also, Smara -- Indi Impressed a blue, not a green

"Yeah, I -- " Her words to Seijin were cut off as a blue streak of fire-lizard slammed into her throat with an entire meatroll. Ellaira's eyes went enormously wide, her pupils dilating in shock as the little creature scrambled up her collarbone, leaving tiny white lines of scratches where his claws had used her skin to climb. Her mouth worked, but no sound came out, eyes rolling to the side to try and catch a glimpse of the sky-blue hide of the creature on her shoulder.

She could feel his pleasure, like a warm spot underneath her breastbone. Little bits of meatroll fell down her shirt as the fire-lizard scoffed the food, his first stomach swelling like the crop of a well-fed bird before he stretched, muscles tensing in a full-body swallow to move the food deeper into his digestive system. The blue stretched down, dark green tongue flicking out to lick up crumbs caught in the faint moisture between her breasts.

"You're as pretty as a darter," Ellaira breathed, as the little fire-lizard almost lost his balance, flapping still-wet wings and revealing the striking white double-bars running across his sky-blue wings. He clambered up her shirt, curling around her neck, his long tail wrapping around in a chokehold, and sang at Echlerov and Seijin, a beautiful trilling song. She whistled back at him through her teeth, an imitation of the song of the birds which were building a nest in her eaves for the third turn in a row.

The blue cocked his head to the side, then sang the bird's song right back at her, nearly note perfect. Ellaira could feel the grin breaking out across her face. "A warbler, are you?" she asked, reaching up and scratching him delicately under the chin. The fire-lizard chirped, then hiccuped and lay his head down, apparently falling fast asleep. She rolled her eyes. "Babies," she said, in all affection. After all, she'd already had two of her own. What was a third?

It was a massacre, of sorts. She steadied Indivara, who proceeded to curse up a blue streak and stare at a firelizard who seemed to think that the girl's toe resembled a meatroll. ("If you want to feed it something other than toe, Indi, I have food in my pouch.") And that would turn her off her supper, if nothing else. What a diet plan- toe rolls? Euck. Jada shook her head, amber eyes flicking to the next piece of the scene. "Ellaira!" she waved to the other woman, lips twitching into a friendly smile.Wherries flying about, snatching little creatures from the air and devouring them, little lizards crawling over people, sinking claws and teeth into flesh... tongues into... was that gold sticking her green tongue down Erisi's throat? Oh come on. "Like is such a mild word," she observed as she watched her classmate fling himself to the ground in defeat, "Considering I think she is the first creature I've ever seen Erisi kiss." Not that she was keeping much of an eye out, but for all the talk about his habits... ah well.

She plucked out a piece of meatroll from her pouch, tossing it to the ground near his head. Maybe she'd get lucky and it would get the creature off of him? Or maybe not. It was a baby. An affectionate one, too. She plucked out another piece of her now-untrustworthy lunch and glanced from person to person, trying to gauge where this new piece should go. Were there any more facehuggers in the area?

“Goldrider Jada?  W-what should we do?  Candidate Master B’jin had spoken out very strongly against firelizards, but the little things are being eaten by the Wherries or disappearing between!  Are they safe between?” The voice that called out to her was timid but sweet, familiar. Jada blinked, taken quite aback by the fact that someone was actually reaching out to her and asking a question. It was quite the turn of events for her, actually! Was she being asked an actual question though? How would she know anything about firelizards? What did she know about them apart from stories? She stared at Aparicus blankly, and licked her lips, racking her brain to try and think of what she should do. The general consensus would probably be that Jada should shut up and let someone else answer, but she'd been asked directly, and- oh dear.

"I-" HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA. "I would think so?" she tried to not fail at sounding confident. "It- They- Cousins. Dragons." her eloquence was astounding. D'ren would probably be proud. Or not. At least she knew Tsereni would be impressed, if the little girl had been around? "I think we need- Ah!" A shrill shriek was met by a shrill shriek as a warm body wrapped itself around her arm, and her hand gripped in two tiny clawed ones.

A brown firelizard was tugging at the meatroll, and she relinquished the small bit without a fight. Not like her fingers had any nerves in them by this point. Pern seemed to spin, and Jada blinked her eyes at the little creature. So small and precious, and brown. The small, angled head tilted, eyes connecting with her own, and the firelizard gave a creel. She was so hungry, Jada realized... before realizing that she wasn't hungry at all. Reaching into her pouch with her free hand, Jada ripped off another chunk of meatroll and offered it to the newborn supplicant. "And what's your name?" she asked him inanely, not really expecting an answer. Her expectations were thoroughly met, as her words were disregarded in favor of the firelizard taking the next bite of food from her fingers.

Jazz had heard rumours of mini dragons existing and her mind run through several ideas. Firelizards? Nah that was impossible... they were all dead. Although... she did hope they were firelizards.

Having heard of the hatching, she headed over, figuring even if she didn't receive one, it would be good enough experience to see how these creatures reacted.

Of all the silly things she could have been doing, searching for shiny rocks on the beach was probably at the top of the list. Jisralna had wandered off, her mind a jumble of thoughts though most prominent seemed to be all the speculation that surrounded the eggs. For the most part, the reaction seemed to be mixed though there were a few people that she knew who were rather vocal about their opinions on the eggs belonging to firelizards.

Still, she couldn’t stop hoping that they might belong to that long gone species. If dragons could’ve survived, why not firelizards? “Would it really be so bad? I miss them.”

Speaking to no one in particular, it took Jisra perhaps a bit longer than most to realize that there was something going on down the way. When a dragon passed over her, casting her in shadow, she looked up then blinking against sudden sunlight turned her head to look at the massed crowd. With a handful of smooth agates, she started towards the crowd then when the tense murmur and sporadic shouts reached her, she picked up the pace until she reached the outskirts of the gathering.

With a bit of strategic maneuvering, she managed to slip through gaps until she spotted what had caused such an uproar. “Firelizards!” Barely a whisper, she stood there, eyes wide and lips slowly curling in a smile. All around, the little hatchlings—so very, very tiny—were running about like mad, trying to find food in and amongst the gathered people. Immediately Jisra tried to look for a familiar face; Seijin, Echlerov…Jada!

Weaving her way through the borderline riotous crowd, jumpy despite her excitement due to the increasing volume of those around her, Jisra stopped near the Goldrider and stared in awe as the woman stooped down to feed…”Gambi!” Her voice came out as a squeak as she saw the brown and while not exactly like the firelizard from her childhood, the color was enough to spark fond memories.

Still clasping the rocks in her hand, Jisra grinned like a child too excited to do much else and turned her gaze to the rest of the crowd. Blue, brown, green…gold! A giggle bubbled up and escaped her. This was almost as wonderful as the day she’d discovered that dragons still existed!
