I'shan smiled and relaxed a little bit, sinking lazily into the water until it's warmth rose to the underside of his chin. "I wouldn't have minded it," he said, his own way of saying he would have liked it. He'd been all alone in the infirmary that night, but as much as he'd wanted to sulk over it at the time, everyone who would have normally come to check on him had something better to do.
"Not too much lately," he confessed. "I'm wardening a weyr arrest on the island, and otherwise just keeping the house up. N'gelt is busy these days," he said. It felt awkward to talk about his personal life with Valerian. It felt awkward taking to him at all, since the harper seemed to have put in a great deal of effort to ignore him. Of course, I'shan didn't know Valerian well. He didn't know the true depths of the young man's indifference. If he did, he would have been even more thrilled to have his attention.
"It's just been a big fat mess, I guess..." he sighed, thinking back to his recent revelations on that subject. Things really were a mess. He'd been wearing blinders for a long time now, and the worst part was, he couldn't even really pinpoint how long it had been.
In spite of it all, the bluerider managed to match the weyrling's teasing smile. "And how about you? I've been seeing you in flights lately. Got your first win yet?" He knew that was a common, sporting discussion among blueriders. He wasn't as raunchy or callous about it as many, but he'd become tender to that subject in certain ways, too...he'd only recently become aware of his own bad conduct during flights. Oh well. May as well play it off for laughs, since they were discussing troublemaking.
