“Hardly. The kiss was still with you,” J’ver replied without missing a beat before his gaze swept over the office to make sure he had collected all of his belongings. He was tempted to go through drawers and cupboards to find something for the skin irritation – and maybe a little numbweed for the aches that flights brought out – but resisted. Talian would be less than agreeable over his office being snatched away from him, no need to further upset his sweet Healer by ransacking and helping himself. Besides, he was certain a long soak in a hot bath would do wonders.
At Z’ia’s dramatic bow and door-opening, J’ver allowed himself to be amused but quickly schooled his expression back to that of arrogance and waltzed through the door without looking at the bluerider. Once outside, he gave pretty green a pat to her nose and did a quick survey of her hide to see if she had been hurt. Aveleth never hurts me. He’s very kind and gentle. J’ver nodded, not at all blind to how timid Z’ia’s dragon was, but he also knew Rilaleeyth submitted as soon as the male was reaching for her. His little beauty didn’t like pain or being marred any more than he did.
You flew gracefully today, pet, J’ver smiled softly for Rilaleeyth as she nuzzled her nose along his shoulder. But Tyrrisath was none too pleased about the outcome. J’ver chuckled softly, still indulging his dragon with petting and mental cooing over her flight. Of course he was. S’kef will be upset as well; they always are when they don’t win. We’ll visit them after we both bathe. There was no sense in worrying, not when it was normal for the brown pair to have a fit on the few rare times they didn’t win.
I would love to, Aveleth, Rilaleeyth spoke softly, almost embarrassed by how much kindness the blue showed her. She was also thankful that J’ver allowed them both to walk. He was always in a better mood after a good flight and despite how Z’ia liked to push buttons, he was one of the gentler men J’ver had bedded. But it was odd how they could play about when alone but as soon as they left the room, they forgot the other existed. It didn’t matter that day, though, since both riders seemed content to ignore the other but let their dragons continue to spend time together.
Rilaleeyth crooned softly and gave a quick lick to Aveleth’s cheek before falling in behind J’ver as he started for the bathhouse, her own steps holding a bit more confidence that evening.
