Larrikith flies, Ayyonth announced in a lazy tone accompanied by a yawn. He was sprawled out in his hollow, enjoying the rays of the slowly warming sun. It was nice to see the start of the weather improving once again; not like winter was bad at Katila but still cooler than he preferred for sunbathing.
Oh? Are you going to give chase? There was a time when R’nd would have spurred the blue into action in order to win a chance with B’jin. Now, however, since their win, R’nd had found himself in B’jin’s company on a regular basis and the need to win in order to cater to a crush wasn’t as strong. That didn’t mean he would never again, as they attempted Larrikith’s last flight and, subsequently, lost. R’nd wasn’t surprised given the green’s game but he had still slinked away, in a towel thanks to B’jin’s thievery, a bit disappointed.
I haven’t decided yet. Besides, you have plans for today. R’nd could feel the stir of desire through their bond even as his lazy dragon tried to ignore it in favour of playing his own game. You should, you know. You want to and Larrikith will never forgive you if you don’t. They had a sneak peak of that on a very confusing day. First Ayyonth chased Grith, and lost, and was then in some drama with Larrikith when they went to find comfort with their favourite greenpair. The spunky girl seemed to have taken quite a liking to Ayyonth, which baffled R’nd who was usually teased and harassed by his blue. As to the excuse of my plans, they can be moved. It wasn’t like he was meeting someone, just leaving a gift.
R’nd stared at the basket of items he had assembled and wondered if it was appropriate to give or if any of the items were needed or wanted. He hadn’t quite gotten the hang of fatherhood just yet and still didn’t put in many visitations but he had promised to help the best he could and R’nd stood by his words. He had commissioned quite a few gifts for the mother and son as the start of his efforts. He had been told babies grew rapidly and since Benden was already tubby – seriously, where did he get that from? – R’nd had several outfits made in sizes he was told should work well. A stuffed toy in the shape of a fish, to represent both parents’ background, was also commissioned, along with some Benden-sized towels for baths and, more importantly, learning to swim. A few snacks he knew Volfetti liked were also added but her big gift was a necklace with a piece of blue glass that matched the ocean. When he arrived home after picking it up, R’nd realised it also matched Ayyonth. Hopefully Volfetti didn’t see it as ownership but a token of something they both liked. He knew he was a child of the ocean and didn’t doubt Volfetti was anything else either.
But the delivery could wait, and likely would given how restless Ayyonth was becoming. He knew B’jin was teaching that day and had a feeling the poor man was around the Crafting Hall still when Larrikith took to the sky. R’nd almost suspected she did it on purpose, waiting for the best moment to make life difficult for her bonded. Bring me to B’jin and go show Larrikith her feelings aren’t wasted on you. If Ayyonth’s lust wasn’t starting to cloud his mind, R’nd would have laughed at himself giving relationship advice. Instead, he left the basket behind and headed for the stretching blue.
A quick trip between and R’nd was dismounting outside the Hall. His feet were barely on the ground when Ayyonth took off to join the chase, using his speed to his advantage, along with his experience in casual flights with the little green. She liked to dive and do daring stunts, though he still couldn’t claim to predict her moves. As he caught up to the pack, Ayyonth gave a bellow to announce his arrival and acceptance of Larrikith’s challenge.
Now that they were both so close to the greenpair, R’nd was nearly dizzy with lust and stumbled a few times on his way to B’jin as his vision blurred between his path and Ayyonth’s. When he finally made it to the room, R’nd found himself annoyed at the group already assembling. How did they get there so quickly? They must have been in the area at the time but they still earned a frown before grey eyes sought out and locked onto B’jin. As he moved in closer to join the pack surrounding the greenrider, R’nd’s smile was one of a predator sure of victory.
