Z’kel stared at the wall of his own guest room, thinking about how all his etiquette lessons growing up the son of a Lord Holder had never come close to covering what you were supposed to do or say on the occasion that your partner has dragon-induced sex with another man in your home and you end up in the guest room with one of her other partners, who failed to have dragon induced sex with her and has dragon induced sex with you instead, and now you want to politely leave this other partner and sleep in your own-own bed but don’t want to encounter the first man still there with your partner and are also not entirely sure how to explain the thing with the other partner to your partner.
Really, shame on his etiquette tutor for never intuiting this situation would come up and providing an overly complex set of scripts for it.
Amagrith says Gelabrith and his rider have left, Seravath told him, from wherever she’d ended up going during the Flight. She sent him an image of some of the big rocks near the top of the Bowl many dragons liked to sun themselves on, which at least answered that question.
He sighed, and slowly got up off the bed, careful not to disturb L’ri. The man was either asleep or politely feigning sleep; Z’kel couldn’t tell which, but he appreciated it either way. They’d had one of their typical polite but slightly stilted conversations earlier, and Z’kel really wasn’t in the mood for another just yet. Having sex with the man didn’t seem to have made talking to him any easier, which was inconvenient. Tazi would really like to stop fumbling his way through it every time they interacted, and he’d rather unconsciously hoped letting the man fuck him would fix the problem, but unfortunately the post-coital chat had been just as awkward as it ever was with them.
At least he had a third wardrobe in the guest room, so Z’kel could grab a robe before leaving. L’ri kindly continued to sleep through the quiet noises of Z’kel looking through the wardrobe, and didn’t make any movements as he slipped out.
The best option, Z’kel decided, was bathroom first, freshen up, then find Mylorah and see how she was doing in the aftermath of her first Flight. He’d had two already, which hardly made him an expert, especially considering Mylorah had grown up in the Weyrs and he hadn’t, in addition to the differences between green and gold Flights but still, he could empathize at least a little. Not that he really thought Mylorah needed post-Flight support the way he had, but he wanted to be there for her anyway.
He was there for her a little earlier than he planned, even, because when he entered the bathroom Mylorah was already there soaking in the tub.
