Since his kids had started Standing, K’tir thought Hatchings were stressful but he didn’t know the half of it. Now that Ghaeth was the sire for a clutch, he had the extra weight on his shoulders of the maulings, stands Impressions, and duds on top of worrying for his son’s safety. It had been a wild ride from start to finish as hatchlings attacked one another and a boy was injured and a girl drew the eye of a brown. But the injuries were light for what normally happened and no other surprises or drama happened so he felt it was a successful Hatching. It was a shame Kajiran didn’t Impress but he wasn’t disappointed. His son likely would be but they would talk about that later on. K’tir was proud of the boy and was making damned certain he didn’t give Kajiran any extra pressure about Impressing or caring about the colour.
K’tir smiled as Ojassa summarised the good points. “We should all be proud. That went well and with a strong showing of colours.” Three browns! Ghaeth sat proudly beside Quayleth and finally gave a triumphant bellow that helped signal the end of the event. Other dragons echoed the call which only made Ghaeth even happier and K’tir laughed as he patted his boy’s side. “A day to remember for sure.” Even with the confidence boost, they both knew how unlikely it was to ever win a gold Flight again so they were savouring everything about the experience over the last several months.
They had also befriended the gold pair, which K’tir hadn’t quite expected. Sure, Ghaeth was a sweet boy and would likely win over Quayleth but he hadn’t been so sure about himself with Ojassa but it was working out well. The fact that it was typically a lot of sex and not much in the way of deep conversations didn’t bother him. They enjoyed each other physically and found some common interests to discuss outside of that and he was happy with where they were. “Can we escort you ladies off the Sands? I imagine Quayleth is looking forward to stretching her wings again.”
