If it weren't for how many greens there were, Corvilis would thought that it could be bad luck that the first one out was a green. But she seemed healthy and alert from what he could see so at least that was a good sign. Even if the mother had this clutch early it didn't seem to do too much other than make the overall size of the litter small. Clutch, he reminded himself. This wasn't a litter of pups, though that first green did certainly act it a little with the playful gesture.
The blue boy was much more direct, he noticed, but he didn't find himself terribly disappointed when it went straight to a different boy. That was fine, Corvilis reminded himself. He'd probably get his dragon eventually, and most likely it wouldn't be from here. The explosion from the third egg derailed that train of thought as suddenly a rather round and angry looking brown charged in his direction, angry and terrified and-GET AWAY!
The voice was made of gravel and the smokiest whiskey he could imagine, grating against his mind as Pharalth panicked. The egg had been too small, too tight! The dent had been pressing against him and it was awful andWHY ARE THERE SO MANY OF YOU GO AWAY! He hissed and swiped at everyone near his boy. How dare they try to crowd him! He needed room! He couldn't breathe!
Corvilis winced, clutching his head as the brown swirled around him like an angry tornado, kicking up sand and blood in his mix of fury and fear.V'lis, I can't breathe! I CAN'T- "Shhh," he caught the brown, grunting as the shockingly sturdy dragonette's body collided with his chest, possibly hard enough to crack a few ribs. "Just breathe. Close your eyes, you're outside, everyone's away, it's okay. Just calm down. Shh, I'm here."
Somehow he knew it was okay if he touched Pharalth, and for a moment the brown started to calm down, but then out of the corner of his eye he saw another person approach, probably a healer to try to patch up the gashes on V'lis's leg and arm, but it set him off and he snarled and snapped, taking a swing at the intruder anyway for daring to approach him. "Shhh, let's... let's go to the side okay? Come on. Let's just go over there, where there's no one else and just breathe okay?"
The weaze and wince from his boy caught Pharalth's attention and he shrank down on himself a moment, his voice still grating but sounding contrite as he apologized,I am sorry, V'lis... I did not mean to catch you. "It's fine, Pharalth... let's just go over there for a moment okay? I want to sit down..."
