Corvilis was tired and cranky as he looked around. So many candidates, so few eggs. Was this one even worth his time? It was fathered by a brown, and he wasn't sure if that would have any real effect on the eggs at all. They were supposed to be good and strong dragons from what he remembered with his lessons, but it was still generally preferred and expected that a bronze would be the one to catch golds.
Still, at least the eggs looked healthy enough and the gold dragon mother certainly seemed to be proud of them all. It was a little hard to be dubious and doubtful, even for him, with how pleased she looked about it all. Too bad he had to wait for people to get done with eggs before he could give them a touch.
He took a few deep breaths and tried to focus again on happy thoughts. Maybe his dragon would still be here, and if it was, he wanted to start with his best foot forward. No more negative thoughts and doubt, just eager curiosity. He stepped up to an egg at the front as soon as it was vacated and set his hand gently on the shell.
