R’dal was so excited! He loved Hatchings—especially since he had Impressed. He knew the nerves of Standing and didn’t miss that part or the expectations he had put upon himself at that time. Now, he could sit and cheer on friends. He still got worried and wrung his hands when nerves were piling up or held his breath when something scary happened but he was able to enjoy them more overall.
And now he had a firelizard friend! He gave Pit another scratch under the neck as she settled onto his shoulder. He didn’t mind looking after her as she was fairly well-behaved and just so dang cute. He purposely sat a bit further up, though, just to keep her from being any sort of distraction to the hatchlings. Besides, if F’drel did come, R’dal knew he’d prefer to sit further back so there would be less people around them and behind them. Given the weather and that it seemed like Quinvalis wasn’t Standing this time, R’dal wasn’t sure if his friend would make it but he wouldn’t hold it against him if he didn’t.
Upon spotting Zoremet, R’dal jumped up and down and frantically waved to get his attention. He flashed him some thumbs up and grinned, hoping his young friend was doing okay. He seemed a bit out of sorts after the Touching and R’dal wondered if he even wanted to be out there at all. He sat back down and apologised to Pit for the disturbance, giving her some more affection. There were others Standing that he was definitely there to support—friends and those he had Searched—but the other important one was Aederyn. It was her first Hatching and despite being awkward around each other after the story about them came out, she was still a friend and he adored her and wanted her to know he was there for her. As soon as he spotted her, she was getting the same enthusiastic greeting Zoremet got.
