Zahrah was milling among the stalls, looking for something to bring home to her daughter as well as cloth and furs for a new warm coat. It meant buttons and fasteners, too, so she was rather busy picking that out for a while. When it grew later, she sat by a fire to watch the whirling and listen to the music the Harpers and others were playing.
She wore a long tunic that reached her ankles and flared out like a dress. It was done with little beads at the hem that made a soft tinkling sound as she moved and was rather fetching, cut to flatter her modest breasts and waistline. There was a slit to the hip on each side and she wore a pair of trousers in the same colour. She figured if she was going to ride a dragon over, she was going to do it easily and without fuss.
It may have gathered her impolite looks but a girl had to find a way to be comfortable, right? Her hair was braided up and away from her face, as it was proper, and she wore fetching green peridot earrings that hung to mid neck. It balanced out the brown of the tunic, multi buckled boots, and leggings. The sash she wore was the same colour as her earrings, giving her one more piece to pull the outfit together. All in all, she had done a really good job. Her daughter had helped by handing her the beading, which was sweet of her.
As her foot tapped in time with the music, she smiled and reached out to touch someone's elbow. It was polite and she grinned a little cheekily.
"You wouldn't mind a dance, would you?" she asked. "It's been ages since I last had a proper one."
It really had been, if she was being honest. Ista had its own kinds of dancing but she'd always been too busy doing something somewhere to join in. Getting to go to Gather was a rare treat for her, that was for sure. Maybe more so now that she'd completed her move to Benden and Zarel had gotten used to the new environment - and the cleaning. More and more of the chores had been aiding with Weyr clean up and having the breakaway was really lovely. She would have taken Zarel but right now, the creche had her and she'd wanted to surprise he daughter with something pretty. A surprise was not a surprise if someone knew about it, that was for sure. The little firelizard gemstone bracelet she found would have to do. Her purchases were safely stowed away now and not in the reach of any thieving, or at least one could hope that was the case.
In light of things, a dance would make things a little better for the night. She might be able to get away with an ale. Just a little, that couldn't hurt. She had until curfew to be back, after all.
