It had been forty-eight hours since her son had been mauled. Everything was a blur to her and she felt numb but Quilriana was well aware of the passage of time. The more time that passed, the more likely Quinvalis would be fine. They had gotten him through the crucial first few hours with stitches, bandages, and sedation. Eb'zer was a dear with his constant updates and positive outlook on the situation. She needed that because Quinvalis had looked dead when she first saw him. So much blood covering his motionless body.
She wouldn't have left the room, let alone the weyr if it wasn't for the greenrider Healer. He insisted her son would be fine and it was okay for her to slip off to have a bath and take some time for herself. She hadn't wanted to leave--what if he woke up again while she wasn't there?--but finally Quilriana agreed that a quick bath and a stretch of her legs would do her well, so she left early morning while her surprise roommate still slept.
F'drel wasn't much of a conversationalist but his concern for Quinvalis was genuine and that was enough for her. A little small talk was also nice to help keep her from going insane as she sat by her son's side, staring at his sweet face and hoping he'd wake--or she would wake from the obvious nightmare.
That was why she went down to the kitchen after her bath to grab them some food and especially klah. She'd noticed the day before that the man enjoyed it and would likely need some more than the little pot leftover from the day before they had in the weyr. She nodded a greeting to the Healer that was currently milling around as he likely just changed the bandages--something she knew they tried to do when she wasn't there to see the wounds--and then continued into the bedroom where she found F'drel back in 'his' chair by the bed.
Quilriana smiled at the sight, happy that Quinvalis had made such a good friend. She didn't want to speculate if that connection ran any deeper and hadn't asked F'drel for confirmation since she didn't want to put him on the spot, but if they were an item, she approved. The tray of food was set down on a table and the two mugs of klah picked up. She handed one to F'drel with a small smile as she came up beside him.
"Figured you would appreciate a fresh cup and they're going to bring up a pot in a bit as well." She moved around the bed and took what was now her chair and carefully took Quinvalis' fingers in her free hand. Everywhere was so bandaged that she had asked Eb'zer where she could hold her baby without causing more pain and fingers seemed to be the best option. "Quinnie's not a fan of klah. He likes the smell but has never liked the taste. His sister loves it though, which I hear is a good thing with all the studying she has at the Healer Hall."
