Truthfully, he didn't have time for Hatchings at his own Weyr let alone at the others. But M'ris not only wanted to keep strong relations with the other Weyrs, he had to go support his daughter, Dimarna, who was Standing again and his son, R'dal, who had Searched a few of the Candidates. It wasn't like everyone was attending the Hatching anyway so work would still be done at Benden if a bit slower that day and his organizing documents for his replacement would still be there when he returned.
But fuck! Couldn't anyone let him sleep for once?
M'ris grumbled as the firelizard did its best to get his attention before finally cracking open an eye to see Muffin. Of course it was that little shit that Rhaedalyn would send to him. Sometimes he wondered if they were all just fooled by the charming idiot routine she did and she was actually the evil mastermind behind what Fort did. He took the paper and shooed the damned blue away and it vanished, likely back to Rhaedalyn so he could deliver more messages.
He knew without even looking that it had to be about the Hatching despite what day it was. Unless some devastating emergency hit their region, Rhaedalyn wouldn't be bothering him before the sun was up. Upon reading it he sighed and returned to bed to wake Ameris as he knew she would want to go as well. She was so sexy upon waking with her hair disheveled and the sleepy moans she gave that M'ris had to fight not to just keep her in bed for a few more hours and forget about the Hatching. But they were both getting far too responsible the longer they held their titles and M'ris left her to get ready as he did the same.
Mosiath, alert your Second, all of the golds, and ...Ghaeth and Halmoirth that Fort is having their Hatching a bit early for those that wish to go. He knew Ghaeth would not only tell K'tir but everyone else he knew, just as Halomirth would do with F'drel and all of her friends. He only ever had to get word to either one of them and the entire Weyr would know in record time.
When he was ready and had given proper instructions to his Second, M'ris headed out about an hour after receiving word. A good number had already arrived and he was always impressed by the size of Candidates Fort could handle but with the size of the clutch, that wasn't a bad thing. He supposed he would have to get used to numbers increasing as well once he was in Benden.
He spotted Dimarna as soon as he sat down and she waved excitedly at him and he returned the gesture. He glanced around the stands and found his son further up, talking rather animatedly to a pretty redhead and R'dare and M'ris smiled but left them alone. He'd catch up with R'dal later and congratulate him on successful Searches and see if any of them had Impressed.
For now, he was going to shut off his brain, stop thinking about numbers, and simply enjoy a Hatching.
