M’dox couldn’t help blushing when T’bia looked at him. He’d thought R’nd having Searched him had come up before, but maybe it hadn’t? It was totally believable that M’dox had had an entire conversation with T’bia in his head and forgotten it hadn’t actually happened. But T’bia mentioned R’nd rather often, M’dox was sure he’d mentioned it… the brownrider distracted himself trying to remember when they’d talked about him being Searched, but he tuned back in when T’bia seemed to volunteer the two of them to visit Rhaedalyn’s children. As in, included M’dox in the plans.
The comment about him being good at finding pretty dresses only had M’dox’s panic rising. Rhaedalyn would just take that as he had female relatives or friends he bought things for, right? Which he did, he had bought several things for his mother, sister, and nieces, but he hadn’t actually given any of the gifts to their recipients. He should probably get around to actually visiting them, which he hadn’t done since he Impressed (he was sure he had a few new nieces and nephews!), which he felt bad about, but it was complicated. And he’d been busy!
He did have to smile at ‘Uncle Randy and Uncle Tibs’ because they were just such cute nicknames. Kids not being able to say long words and names was adorable. With his own younger relatives he’d been Maddy or Mox, which he’d found endearing. He got distracted again, thinking about his siblings’ children, when Rhaedalyn addressed him directly and M’dox was brought crashing back to the current conversation.
“Uh, yeah, it has that kind of thing. It’s not a dress shop, technically, I think, they just have a lot of them. But they have winter clothes too, I remember, scarves and gloves at least, probably hats and mittens as well,” M’dox managed to stumble through the answer to Rhaedalyn’s question. He hadn’t looked specifically for hats or mittens, but he and T’bia had gotten scarves there, and he’d considered buying his younger brother’s wife some gloves there. If they had one type of warm clothing, they probably had others, right? They could at least look there. M’dox was already including himself in the expedition, unconsciously agreeing to T’bia’s unintentional invitation to visit Rhaedalyn’s daughters with him.
