Everything Rhaedalyn said was very nice but M’dox’s eyes widened in concern nonetheless. R’nd talked about him? To other people? R’nd thought about him enough to talk about him with other people. R’nd said he was proud of M’dox to other people? Including the Fort Weyrwoman! Oh, Faranth, M’dox had no idea how to process any of that.
Instead, he just nodded and smiled, managing to get out a ‘nice to meet you too,’ before he lost the ability to speak and attempted to hide behind T’bia. Rhaedalyn was T’bia’s friend, and he was just there to be introduced. He’d been introduced, and now M’dox was perfectly happy to hang back and let T’bia talk to the goldrider about whatever they wanted. Visiting Rhaedalyn’s children, it sounded like? M’dox was pretty sure T’bia had mentioned the girls before at some point. He liked hearing T’bia talk about things in his life, even if the bluerider sometimes left out some context and M’dox wasn’t always entirely sure of all the details of a story. Rhaedalyn and her daughters showed up in the stories periodically, and it was actually nice to have a face to put to Rhaedalyn’s name; he had seen her before, but only from a distance, and it was hard for him to really picture someone’s face when he hadn’t seen it up close. Maybe it was only fair she knew things about him, since M’dox had heard random things about her from T’bia. The idea was still anxiety inducing, and M’dox pressed closer to T’bia — it just felt safer, somehow — and tried to focus on the conversation he wasn’t participating in instead of what negative things Rhaedalyn might know about him.
