Quinvalis was still frowning even as he lined up to enter the Hatching circuit. He had arrived in Telgar the day before, a last minute addition to the group of Candidates hoping to Impress one of the dragonets about to hatch. As much as he wanted to be a dragonrider and make his mom and R'nya proud, he wanted to do that in Fort, where R'nya lived. Where Madiquel lived as well, if he was honest. She was a definite bright spot when he was having a darker day and he was so happy he had finally found the courage to properly speak with her months ago instead of keeping it to quick greetings or something more professional. But she wasn't the reason he was in Telgar.
R'nya was.
The Weyrleader had guilt-tripped him into going, whether he knew it or not. He likely knew it; R'nya wasn't dumb. His mom and sister lived in Telgar Hold still so wouldn't it be nice if he Impressed there so they could visit him whenever they wanted? Again, if he was being honest, he almost wondered if R'nya was trying to get rid of him, get the son of his secret lover away from his beloved mate --not that Quinvalis hated Rhaedalyn. How could anyone hate someone so sweet? But he knew that thought wouldn't have entered R'nya's mind either and the bronzerider was just looking to give him more chances at Impressing while making his mom happy as well.
So he begrudgingly agreed it would be nice, packed a bag, said bye to Madiquel with the hope she would come to the Hatching, and was personally carted off to Telgar Weyr by Fort's Weyrleader. Space had been tight with so many Candidates filing in for the large clutch but he found an unused bunk and settled in.
Now he was shuffling along behind the other boys, not as excited as they were about the Touching. Sure, it was cool and all, and he was normally just as thrilled to go through the odd ritual, but it wasn't Fort.
As the others started off for the eggs, Quinvalis hung back, observing the adult dragons for a few minutes. It was always interesting to see how they interacted. Xyreith and Aradissicath obviously cared for each other but they also seemed to enjoy annoying each other. How did this shiny duo get along? From the bit of gossip he knew, it didn't sound like they were mated and that it was a fluke T'ryn was even at the Weyr during the Flight. But just because the humans weren't mated didn't mean the dragons had to follow suit. It seemed like they got along well enough but were focused more on the group of humans meddling about the eggs. Mulrissa seemed to enjoy it all and T'ryn was hard to read. He seemed excited and a little anxious but that was likely still a carry over from the Flight--according to rumours, at least.
Sighing, he figured he should do his job before Indivara came over and picked on him. He saw the way Venseth was watching everyone closely. Wandering over to an egg that was sitting slightly lopsided and currently being ignored. He stood in front of it for a moment, studying the shell, imagining what could be inside, and then finally closed his eyes and rested his hand on the shell.
ooc: Ecstasy egg, please!
