Good.
Kerrin wasn't teasing him, and rather was complying with Erisi's desire to have someone by his side. Sure, Kerrin wasn't the best candidate in this situation, but Valerian was too far away, and no way in Faranth's name would he turn to anyone else. At the very least, he knew Kerrin well enough to come to the conclusion that he did not hate the annoying weyrbrat. Besides, Erisi would not miss Kerrin terribly much if he got mauled over himself. Okay, so, he really didn't wish a mauling on Kerrin, but if it was him or Kerrin... yeah, he'd say he'd rather Kerrin get hurt. He was not so bad a person that he just wanted everyone injured but himself! Erisi was just completely out of his element, and while he was not used to needing other people right now he did. Just a little, though.
His desire to be elsewhere was apparent. It wasn't even so much that he feared dragons, because on occasion he seemed to tolerate their presence. Rather, it was that he did not want this for himself that made him want to repel every dragonet that wandered too close away. He wasn't daring enough to actually do that, but that did not mean the desire waned. His arms folded against his chest, a clearly defensive posture when he was feeling anything but comfortable. A lot of dragonets were hatching, and Erisi was hoping that with Kerrin nearby, the boy's positive attitude would overshadow his less enthusiastic demeanor and the dragonets would be attracted to the weyrbrat instead. "Thanks," he said gruffly to Kerrin, as if embarrassed to admit that he needed a little help right now.
Erisi was going to pull through this. At least, until he heard Lymsleia's voice chime towards him. Not right sharding now, his mind hissed with irritation. Of course, the Hatching Sands were the last place he needed to pick a fight at, so he calmed himself with a deep breath. If Lymsleia thought he'd react positively to her congratulations on having enough balls to Stand, she was sorely mistaken. "If it was up to me, I'd be in the Stands instead. However, there are greater forces at work here making sure that I remain in complete and total misery," he answered in a dry drawl, eyes cutting over to Lymsleia harshly from over the top of Kerrin's head. Dear Faranth, why did Kerrin have to be so small? He'd hardly sate a dragonet's appetite.
Impressions had been made, and so far Erisi had made it through unscathed. Candidates were getting hurt, but the sad part was that so long as it wasn't someone Erisi was emotionally invested in, or himself, he didn't care. His mind already had enough to deal with just by trying to pull through this Hatching. There was, however, a small touch of remorse in his heart that Echlerov had Impressed. The man would probably be too busy with his dragonet to put his craft to proper use, and see that Erisi got some decent sharding wine. Shells, wine would be so nice right now.
