Gabrin took in the appearance of the newcomer that spoke to him so casually. It was clear the man was a dragonrider from the way he dressed but there was something else familiar to him. That’s when it came to him. The man looked like his father had in his youth. “Ah, you must be the forgotten relative that ran off to ride dragons and frolic in the South. Jaimiveridis, was it? The son of High Reaches and Nabol.” His attention turned to his companion as he offered more of an explanation for Khoemi to chew on, “according to my family history lessons back in the day, his parents were lucky. They married for love but were allowed because it was a good political alliance. Sadly, one of my brothers had to marry a daughter of Nabol to keep the alliance strong since this one vanished.”
Another swig of his wine was taken before smiling at Khoemi. “Be a dear, Emmy, and save my seat. I won’t be long,” Gabrin blew a kiss at his companion, knowing full well it’d make the man squirm and rage in turns, and got to his feet.
He waved to a nearby vacant table for them to occupy as they discussed whatever it was his father’s cousin wanted from him. A moment later and he was waving for the barmaid to bring over two glasses of his usual. “So, what brought you out to seek me at last, cousin?”
