J'zek was mildly disappointed that J'ver didn't seem the least bit uncomfortable around Sirbuth. He'd come to enjoy the wariness of his fellow weyrlings, even if the young Bronze was more bark than actual bite. Both rider and dragon took a certain amount of pleasure from intimidating others. J'zek was already well aware that attempting such tactics with J'ver were unlikely to go over well or go unpunished. If the Greenrider was as close to S'kef as he hinted at then J'zek wanted to stay on his good side. He'd impressed as well as any man could hope to, but he still had at least two long turns ahead of him before he'd be able to actually use his status to his advantage.
He rubbed some sand along side his dragon's spine, using the circular motion they'd been shown to use when bathing their new lifemates. There was more to dragon care than he'd first imagined, but he found he didn't really mind caring for his dragon. It wasn't like having to do chores back home which were usually monotonous and rarely anything he enjoyed doing. It was a whole new experience taking care of something he loved as much as Sirbuth.
He looked across the water at J'ver, his interest piqued at the Greenrider's words. J'zek was still leery, wary of some sort of trap. "For what purpose?" He inquired, his voice carrying a cautious note. If the other man was going to attempt to seduce him he'd pound some better sense into him right there and then, even if he was the Weyrleader little bed warmer. He wasn't reckless enough to jump to conclusions though and was willing to at least hear the other man out first. He already sensed that being holdbred put him as a bit of a disadvantage with many of the Weyrbred riders, and he was willing to look for any foothold he could find on his upward climb.
