Okalinath clutched yesterday, which isn't all that exciting anymore now that there are several grown golds with healthy cycles, but there was an oddity everyone latched onto.
Two very obviously gold eggs.
Everyone acted like it was the first time they had ever seen such a thing and sure, I was caught by surprise as well but it rang some bells of recollection more than shock.
So I went to Harper Hall this morning. Harpers are such drama queens. Like I was really there to kidnap people. I was kidnapped in case they forgot. Anyway, they let me in without too much fuss since I'm still a Harper and I'm not one of the original dragonriders some of the Harpers are still uneasy with.
I spent the morning and a bit into the afternoon going through the old records of clutches and Hatchings, completely convinced that the detail I was thinking of was real and not made up. I spent a lot of time in the records room, copying the older texts to keep them modern and preserved, and the info from the Weyrs was always the most fascinating to me given my childhood fancy with the creatures that vanished.
I eventually did find the records of a Hatching where two gold dragonets emerged and Impressed. According to the Harper's recount, this was the first time it had happened. Naturally I copied down the record and brought one copy to S'kef in Telgar and another to R'nya in Katila. Both times I made sure there was a crowd of some sort milling about to help spread the word.
That burst a lot of bubbles, Kahleena's included.
At least the buzz will quiet down now and the peace of the evenings will be back upon us.
And everyone was reminded that I'm always right.
