Alerae was getting a few blissful hours of sleep. Tolera had been colicky all day, and had taken quite some time to work through it, leaving her mother rather frazzled. Tank and Opal seemed to have something different to say about the woman sleeping however, as the Brown was intent on playing with her lower lip while the Green was twisting herself into her bonded's hair.
The woman groaned, rolling onto her side. "Stop..." she murmured, batting at the air.As she started to rise from a deeper sleep, she heard the sound she missed at first. Both of her lizards were humming. She groaned and dislodged Tank from her chest to roll onto her stomach. " Please be silent, dearies." she entreated, trying to sink back into full sleep. Tank didn't listen at all, flapping into the air and diving at her back, chittering. "Tank! Opal!" she cried, huffing as she turned back over and sat up. " Dahlings, must you.." She paused as both of her lizards attempted to pull at her clothing. " What in Pern is wrong with you two?" she asked, a small part of her resenting the idea to Impress Firelizards. Or at least two of them.
Finally awake enough for the fact that the two of them are humming to register in her mind, she starts. " Oh dear me, is that what you've been trying to say?" She asked, and Opal churruped in agreement. " Well, we had better get going then." she added, finding her folded Candidate robe and slipping into it. She plaited her hair while checking on Tolera. The girl was sleeping soundly, but just in case, she should stick her in the creche. Alerae might Impress this time, and it could be a while before she would be able to get back to her room to check on her daughter. So she bundled her up and popped over the the creche before actually heading to the hatching circuit.
She slowed her steps as she arrived, giving B'jin and R'nd a small wave. Tank circled her head before settling on one shoulder and Opal perched on her other, though she was more interested in playing with the end of Alerae's braid. The woman quietly joined the other Gold Candidates, her eyes resting on the gold egg. The emotion she felt from the egg was encouraging, so she felt confident. She waited, stroking Tank's tail, as she watched the eggs.
