Z'jan, winded though not excessively so, finally reached the place where his green was bobbing. But the other figure was gone. He stopped; tread water. Wait... maybe he was the one going crazy. Ghalath just stared at him."Did you... play a trick on me?" His eyes were wide, a look of bewilderment and disbelief on his face.
But Ghalath didn't have time to answer before Z'jan felt the water move behind him. There was a small splash and suddenly a person was speaking. He started, and whirled around. As fast as one can whirl while treading cold water.
"Shards! You scared the pants off me."
...ignoring the fact that he wasn't technically wearing any.
He listened attentively to the pale, spritely blond. Oh. That made more sense. He glanced over at Ghalath with a slightly apologetic look. But his green wasn't looking back. Now that the girl was far enough away, Ghalath had lowered her wing and was now paddling slowly away from the pair.
Somethings never changed.
"I thought... oh! Ok. I meant good like 'are you doing good?' Not like... evil or good." He cleared his throat. "But yeah... I'm Z'jan! I see you already met Ghalath." He said the final part with slightly raised eyebrows. Surely to Casa Ghalath must have seemed aloof and unfriendly. There's no way she could have appreciated this moment the way Z'jan did. It had been ages since Ghalath had spoken to anyone. For any reason. Not the first time, sure. But it certainly had been awhile.
"But misunderstanding aside, she really isn't evil." He chuckled a little, pushing wet hair back from his face. "And I know you're not evil. An evil person would never say 'silly wherry headed thing'" He grinned, eyes twinkling. "That's strictly the insult of heroes in disguise."
