The amazement and energy coming from Quenym made Casa grin proudly. Her surprise was a good one, she knew, and she wanted to share it with all her friends. "Of course you can have one!" she said, shaking her head at him like he was dumb. "Don't be such a wherry, Quenym. It'll be our adventure companion when we go to work on chores and protect the herdbeasts." She winked carefully at him, turning to greet K'ton when he came over.
Seeing the look of discomfort on his face, she turned on the big eyes and innocent looks. "Uncle K'ton, won't you stay to at least watch? There's a whole bunch of them, and while they aren't dragons, you know more about them than I do! Besides, I bet Ironth would stay and keep me company..." She had the image of the brown trying to fit in here, knowing he wanted K'ton to Impress one. She was going to do everything in power to see it happened, but she had to at least try to be sly about it.
When Flora arrived, she waved hello to her friend, gesturing to the eggs. "Feel free to look at 'em," she said with a soft smile for her only non-girly girl friend. "I bet one takes a liking to you -" and as if to emphasize her point, there was a loud crack sound as one of the eggs burst wide open.
---
On Casa's words, the Citron egg burst into pieces after rocking its way against the side of the tub. It's distinct puckered orange shell shattered and bounced off other eggs, revealing a blue who shook its head, chittering in confusion and hunger. His dark blue hide shimmered in the low light of the dining hall, and he creeled softly, noticing the people above. Creeling with more urgency, the feeling of hunger flooded Flora's mind,
He clumsily moved his way to the edge of the tub, tripping over the Numbweed egg on the way. It wobbled side to side before part of its silvery surface fell away, revealing a wing tip. The wet wing matched the egg's color, a pale green-silver, as it struggled to break the rest of the shell. Another small chip fell off, revealing a tiny head. The green's eyes found K'ton and she cried for help, her hunger and fear hitting him like a wave.
