Ryvian found himself smiling as he watched Casa gather up the eggs. He didn’t like seeing his shirt used for such a task but it wasn’t like he wore it much anyway so it was getting more use as a basket than it actually did as torso covering. There was such genuine happiness in the girl as she counted and repositioned the eggs and it made the older twin glad he had thought up the silly adventure into the woods. He knew he had a reputation for mischief but the heat of the day made him rather lazy and he couldn’t think of anything he’d want to drag a younger ‘brat into that wouldn’t gain her a whopper of punishment.
The fact that they found firelizard eggs was mind-blowing and when Casa offered him half, his mind was blown yet again. “Huh?” Ryvian elegantly replied as he paused in stroking Tryst along the neck. “I don’t need half. What would I do with them?” He was happy to have his blue and since Nyvian had a flitter as well, Ryvian didn’t think there was a need for more. Some of the residents had several to contend with but he wasn’t sure he wanted to deal with that headache. Trading the eggs was still a popular theme but, again, he didn’t know what he’d use them for. Special gifts for girls wasn’t something he did that much of to begin with since he liked to throw parties and be friendly in general to everyone around him. It would have amused Ryvian immensely that the innocent-looking girl before him had come up with the idea when he hadn’t.
“They’re all yours, Casa. I’ll carry them home for you and show you how to keep them warm so they’ll have a better chance of hatching but you can keep them or trade them as you like.” He crouched down to check on the way Casa had secured the eggs and nodded in approval. He wasn’t a master of knots or survival but improvising was something he could do fairly well and what they ended up with seemed like it would do just right.
Carefully Ryvian gathered up the bundle and stood up. “Ready to take them back?” It was best to bring the eggs back right away now that they had removed them from the warm nest of sand. He’d feel terrible for encouraging her to take them and then ended up distracting her further with other hidden enjoyments of the alcove. Like with everything else, he really wasn’t a master in hatching firelizard eggs either but he remembered enough of Nyvian’s suggestions and careful instructions that he’d be able to relay it all to Casa on the walk back to Katila. Given how tipsy the girl seemed, Ryvian suspected he’d have to tell her all again the next day as well but he didn’t mind.
