That plan would never work. Talian knew that dragons followed the Queen without question. They could not disobey. If he and Erisi made a dash for the north, they'd be stopped before they made it off the ground. He didn't voice his concerns though, as he was certain that Erisi knew it was crazy, too. He just sighed, shaking his head slowly and resting his chin on Erisi's shoulders for those few long, miserable seconds.
"I miss my home, too. I'm not even sure why," he sighed at length. He wanted to laugh at Erisi's comment about kisses on the cheek, but he couldn't muster it. His face was frozen in his usual frown. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable," he said gently. He leaned closer, resting his forehead against Erisi's cheek. He was content with their quiet companionship, each man undoubtedly stewing in nervous anticipation of his future. Erisi obviously had it worse. There was no telling what the Weyrleader had in store for him. It must have been like awaiting execution.
Talian was silent for a long while. He expected he'd feel awkward after such a gesture, but his usual naive nervousness hadn't showed itself. Grief may have outweighed it. He was happy that Erisi was accepting his attempt at comfort, but he knew he was failing. After a couple minutes of careful though, he adjusted his position and repeated his previous action, this time brushing his lips a bit closer to Erisi's chin. "I...don't know. Maybe we should think about something else..." he said weakly.
