Fellis chirped a second time, eyes locking mistrustfully onto the offered food. The fire lizard ruffled his wings and crept forward, nostrils quivering as he sniffed. It smelled so good! But she was so scary! The little creature looked imploringly at Talian, begging silently for Daddy to solve the conundrum.
Talian smiled, then reached out to gently take the food himself. "Sorry about that," he said as he lowered the morsel to Fellis, who promptly began gnawing away at it. "Fellis is rather nervous around other people but he's getting better. Oncewe see each other a couple times, he'll warm up to you." That was how it worked with Valerian and B'jin, though the latter's discomfort around fire lizards made that a slow process to say the least.
"A little time left," Talian repeated, his bitterness visible underneath his strained effort at civility. He remained cynical of Katila and the motives of it's leaders. He didn't expect to ever be released, and he was starting to get the nagging, paranoid fear that he would Impress...that would really ruin everything. Talian wilted a bit, but it was fitting considering the following topic.
The healer frowned. "D'ren is alive, and at this point it looks like he's going to survive," he said. "His condition is stable, but his stomach and throat linings are having a hard time recovering. It's too early to tell, but it seems like he may have chronic trouble once he's recovered."
He frowned a bit more. "Of course, it would be easier to tell if I could see him myself."
