"It makes no sense," Talian said with grim irony. "If I'd wanted to kill him, it would have been easy to kill him while working on him after his collapse. It would have been easy to stop his heart without looking suspicious." He rolled his eyes, as if the truth was so painfully obvious that he shouldn't have had to say it - not that he thought he had to say it to another healer, but it was hardly the first time he'd made that point to someone!
He lifted his brow at the child. Talian had almost no experience with children and had hardly ever been one himself, so he had no idea what to make of the kid's odd noises and awkward gestures. "Likes me?" he asked. He didn't see it.
Fellis cheeped apprehensively and disappeared down the front of Talian's shirt again. He paused and exhaled, maintaining his patience as best he could, and proceeded to fish the little blue out. Fellis wrapped nervously around Tal's hand for a few long moments before tentatively creeping onto his shoulder. The strangers were scary, but Fellis was determined to do as he must to make Daddy happy!
Tal was pleased. "Good boy," he said, scratching the fire lizard's head before eyeing Jazira again. "...And no, but thank you. I'm off today, and aside from work, I have little to keep my mind off of things." His gaze shifted to Jazzpur. "It seems to me like you still have plenty to keep you occupied, though." He wondered idly who the father was, but he didn't ask.
