The little blue firelizard kept staring at him! It looked like it was pouting and it reminded R’nd of someone with that expression. He shook off any comparisons since they weren’t important. What was important was he was still a bit hungry and getting tired. Wait, what? No, he wasn’t! He had a full meal recently and wasn’t in need of nap time. Grey eyes widened when he realised the sensations were coming from the blue that he sort of wanted to give in to and pet. The chirp he received in response made it clear that the little guy thought he was in need of such attention as well. He was close to giving in when a kick to his behind was given, words were spoken at him, and another kick given.
It actually took several seconds for any of that to register as R’nd was still in shock and his reaction time had slowed considerably. It also didn’t help that he had Ayyonth laughing in his mind and stating how precious the mini version of himself was. R’nd shot a glance behind him to where Indivara was standing with a blue flitter of her own and his eyes suddenly widened when all of her points sank in with clarity. B’jin would kill them all for being near firelizards, would kill him again for Impressing one, and then because that wasn’t enough, a third death would follow, this one more painful and slow because R’nd let Amorandii stay near the nest. Again he almost forgot he was holding the girl steady even with Indivara’s comment. It was only when a small hand reached out to pet the blue bracelet he had acquired that R’nd sprang into action and jumped to his feet.
The little guy – which would need a name soon before he ended up only as ‘the little guy’ and R’nd wondered why he was considering names when he was about to be a dead man thrice over – clung on a bit harder but at least he didn’t bite this time. He was a quick learner which was nice. “C’mon, Amorandii. I bet you can see better from atop Larrikith or Ayyonth. There’s so much happening at once, isn’t there!” He tried to play chipper and friendly, but he was still worried about what everything currently happened meant.
When Amorandii still wanted to pet the pretty little blue, R’nd lifted his hand higher which the silly thing took as an invitation to jump to the top of R’nd’s head and make himself at home. R’nd blinked. Did he seriously have a firelizard chilling on his head? He imagined it was ridiculously cute and that only made everything that much worse!
“What’s his name, Uncle Orwind?” R’nd glanced down at the little girl, surprised she voiced the question he had been thinking about a moment ago. Then again, Ayyonth had probably passed along the idea to ask him since it would only add to his frazzled state. That evil dragon!
“I… hadn’t… I don’t…” He fell silent. Again, why name something when he didn’t have much time left alive? Also, he didn’t mean to Impress the sweet little guy that wanted more cuddling! “Rell,” he finally said, going with a name he hadn’t spoken in about half his life time. His sister’s name was Eridella but when he was little he could only say Airell. When he was older, he switched to calling her Rell as his own personal name for her. He loved her so much and she was likely the one person he missed the most since packing up everything to follow a bluerider on a whim that everything would work out well. Well, it had up until about five minutes ago when he Impressed a firelizard!
