Talian's new companion crooned, his tiny body rumbling with pleasure as he nestled into the crook of the young man's arm. The healer himself was still speechless, completely mesmerized by the little beast while also questioning if he actually liked this intrusion or not. Tal couldn't help but pity the little thing, though. It's helplessnes appealed to his healer's instincts, and perhaps those of an unresolved parent as well. It needed him.
Speaking of needing him...Talian thought he had a name, but he banished the thought as soon as it brushed the back of his mind. He couldn't even be sure that he could keep the thing alive, and if he named it he was going to get all attached to it! Bewildered, he shook his head at the creature while it lovingly nuzzled him.
Shards, he was already attached to it. How could this happen.
He was distracted from his distress by, appropriately enough, someone else's distress. The healer spun around to see Erisi in distress, his face assaulted by a tiny little gold. Tal's eyes widened and his new companion cheeped in distress; something had upset daddy! Tal instinctively placed his free hand over the little creature to reassure it as he took a step closer. "Um, Eri? I think it likes you..."
What could he do about it without losing his hand? Talian frowned, then reached out to delicately try and pry the little gold off of Eri's face. The blue clung to Talian's sleeve, watching with questioning curiosity as his sister attacked her food-giver. Why would she do that? The little blue loved his food-giver! He squeaked, as if reassuring Talian that he would never attack his face.
Talian wasn't quite sure how he got that particular message from a squeak, but shards. If it worked, it worked.
"Eri? Are you okay?"
