Talian smiled slowly. "It's strange to think about," he said, letting the words linger in the air for a moment before explaining exactly what he meant. "When you Impressed, I was so afraid that you'd change. Most of the dragonriders I'd met seemed like monsters to me. I wasn't even trustful of B'jin yet, at least not like I should have been. I was so afraid that Veeth would make you into a monster, too..." He paused, frowning subtly as he thought back on those difficult, fragile times. "But I was also afraid that my own fear would ruin everything."
"It's like you changed, but you didn't. I can easily believe everything you've said." He ran his fingers along Fellis' back, caressing the adorable creature as he purred. Talian smiled. "I know you love Veeth, though. And I know he didn't do anything to harm you. It's a good thing for me to think about..."
Once again, he subconsciously inched closer. "It's something good to hold on to. I've been nervous about the hatching, but I don't..." What words was he searching for? "I guess I don't feel like running away anymore? After everything that's happened, I don't know." Perhaps it was Talian's turn to be cheesy. He laughed a little before continuing. "It's like this place has done everything it could think of to destroy me, and it hasn't yet. I don't think it can, Val."
He looked towards his harper friend and smiled. "...I hope you're right. Maybe it will be a good thing," he said. It was the most positive thing he'd said or thought for a long time, and it seemed to visibly relax him. He smiled down at Fellis before speaking again.
"I like it when you're sappy, Val. You're the sweetest person I've ever met."
