D'ren didn't realize that Nejerc had traveled south with the riders, otherwise he would have worded his question differently. He was pleased just the same, since so many seemed to come with him with only complaints. He was puzzled by Nejerc's observation about grass in his hair, though. The bronzerider quickly pushed his fingers through his hair to dislodge the stray bits.
"Ah, yes. Thanks," he said, grimacing at the thought of how sloppy he must have looked. D'ren was supremely modest and hated having so much as a wrinkled shirt, much less running around covered in grass. He dressed plain, but be believed he ought to set an example and at least look neat.
Ronarth fidgeted slightly and D'ren righted himself, standing straight so Ronarth might wriggle about. The dragon leaned down to sniff at Nejerc another time or two before letting out a long, hot breath and pushing his forked tongue out to brush the man's cheek. D'rne grimaced again.
"Ronarth!" he scolded. The dragon's head shot back and he crept to the side, as if physically repelled by D'ren's calm, scolding voice. I was just saying hello!
