It had been a strange couple days for Talian. He was used to be included in all the most pressing cases, especially in cases including actual physical trauma, but this time he wasn't even allowed in the left wing of the hall! D'ren was being watched over by the rest of the staff, an while Talian himself wasn't allowed in, that hadn't stopped the others from constantly coming to him with questions and seeking advice.
It was almost like he was working on the case, and he certainly felt needed and wanted. But he could only be so much help without actually seeing the patient. The whole thing made Talian uncomfortable rather than being relaxing like it should have been. He was expecting bad news any day, but the Weyrleader had already survived longer than expected.
Of course, being disallowed near D'ren meant that Talian had almost nothing else to do. He'd taken a couple days off, which he'd devoted to further training Fellis and daydreaming about Valerian. He was too twitchy to stay away from healing for long, though. Now that he was back, he'd picked up extra shifts (like he always did) and worked himself like a zombie for a couple days. It was a vicious cycle.
Today was, in theory, another day off. He frowned a bit as he passed the examination room, pausing to glance inside. "Jazira?" He didn't know her well, but he did know of her. He often covered her position for her while she was pregnant and on maternity leave. He raised a brow. "Is he all right?" he asked, eyeing the child.
