I'shan's eyes widened a bit at the bold statement. He felt his cheeks continuing to burn at the implications, but he was forced to close his eyes and look away. "A meal would be great," he said, half-enthusiastic and half-apprehensive. He would love to have another meal with the kid. Shards, I'shan would love it if he could line up a friendly face for every meal, because nothing sharding sucked like eating all alone. Nothing sucked like BEING alone. That wasn't the very worst, though. The very worst was being alone after not having to worry about loneliness for such a long time.

There was fondness for his mate there, but also a distinct tone of sadness. I'shan missed N'gelt so very much, and it made things like this so very tempting.
