Talian had no way of feeling Larrikiths mental touch. He did notice that she seemed a little out of sorts when she returned, but that was because he was almost happy to see her. He assumed her game hadn't gone well and shrugged it off easy enough, she when she gave him that blank stare, he was almost curious enough to ask what was wrong. He reached out hesitantly, as if he were thinking about reaching across B'jin to pet her again, but by the time he had the guts to extend his hand she'd already turned around. He didn't know why, so he just snapped his hand back and rested against B'jin once more.
Talian didn't view his attitude towards her as a grudge. He viewed it as an observation. The medically-minded didn't believe in coincidence. When something happened three times, it wasn't by chance anymore...He wasn't still angry at those particular incidents all that time ago, he simply assumed that if he gave her a reason to, she'd do it again. That was something he'd like to avoid. He still struggled to keep his mouth shut when any dragon's nasty voice came barging into his mind, though Larrikith was the one he tolerated best. One could say she'd trained him, but most of it was simple resignation. At least with Larrikith, he knew what he was dealing with. Better the devil you know!
He rolled his head back and smiled wryly at the greenrider. "I don't have any," he announced almost lazily, the dryness and pessimism in his voice so casual that it sounded almost normal. "At least none that don't bring up things I don't want to talk about." Things like Fiora. She really had been all that was good about his old life. The more he thought about it, the more apparent that became. She was the single good thing he'd ever had. He even hated his mother.
"And well, the rest of them aren't worth telling because you're in them and should already know," Talian continued, this time bordering on amused. It was true. It was even sappy. The healer smiled and wriggled away so he could turn around and give his friend and father a hug.
He squeezed, then smiled. "I'm sorry I'm not that interesting. All I really do is work," he said. This was the first time he'd come stargazing in ages! He tilted his head back and looked up. "The last time I did this was months ago. I don't really..." Well, B'jin knew, so he could speak. "I don't go outside by myself anymore. And the last person who offered to go with me was Valerian." He spoke formally, using the whole name. Valerian.
