It was hard for Erisi to hide his distaste for a person, and it looked like he didn't even try when Talian mentioned B'jin. Erisi did not care for their relationship, it was twisted how B'jin had somehow gotten Talian to warm up to him after he stole him away from the North. As far as he saw it, B'jin had no right to associate with Talian. The man did not deserve to. "That's weird," he noted, not even bothering to hide his feelings about B'jin. It would probably rub Talian the wrong way, but Erisi had done that to his friend countless times before. For some reason Talian just kept sticking around him. "He has his own kids, and you're old enough that you don't need a brand spankin' new parent."
Talian was likely correct to withhold information about the North from Erisi. The Weyrling was prone to jealousy, and would have been just as upset as he was happy for his friend - upset because he wanted desperately to have some connection again to the North. There were some things that could shake up a friendship, and with Erisi there were a lot more things than some. What Talian kept from him was likely one of those things.
"I heard," Erisi said with such a stern voice that it was clear that he was likely jealous of Talian and Valerian rendezvousing together. Oh yeah, definitely jealous. Talian was free to sleep with whomever he wanted, but Charath warmed up to so few that she was generally uncomfortable with Erisi getting hot and heavy with other people. It left him frustrated, and to make things worse, Charath would probably approve of Valerian if Erisi made a move on him. He had just been busy... and now Talian had beaten him to the punch. It made him just a little grumpy.
"You don't seem all that excited about it, though," he pointed out, trying to conquer his small bout of jealousy... and failing.
