N'kal gave an amused sort of grunt at that half answer. "I suppose. As big as your brown is I am sure, like my Torath, he has a mighty appetite." The small talk was annoying him, he didn't much care for talking, and even less when it was someone he didn't much care for. Again, he had to remind himself that S'kef was the Weyrleader, and as such had to be accorded a certain amount of respect..or tolerance...or something along those lines.
N'kal wasn't sure exactly where this conversation was headed, but he would be glad to see it ended. He hadn't wanted to discuss politics today, that had been Torath's plan after all. It still is....I will be done soon. 'Take your time, I am alright for now.', he sent back along with every reassuring feeling and sentiment he could muster. He never liked to rush Torath into anything unless it was actually important. Your happiness and comfort are very much important, all you need is to ask, and I will be right there., Torath stated calmly, if not slightly distracted. 'I know...I know.', he answered after a moment.
He gave a bit of a shrug in response to S'kef's question. His eyes searching the sky in the direction that Torath and Tyrrisath had gone. "Yeah....mostly I wanted to get out of the weyr..too much politics, too much drama, and too many people plotting on what is going to happen. Too much for a simple rider like myself to deal with daily. I'll be glad when things get back to normal." His answer was given rather dismissively, and again that was not really out of the norm for him. He still didn't understand why the man was actually bothering to talk to him. N'kal did his best to stay as far under the radar as he could, given the fact that he was a bronze rider and certain things were always expected of bronze riders. He had no political interests and had never actually vocally said anything bad about S'kef, at least not that he remembered. So why bother with him now?
The next time S'kef spoke N'kal actually looked up at him with some kind of interest. "Thread doesn't take breaks" he said gruffly, even though he knew damn good and well it hadn't fallen in forever. "But all things considered, currently, yes...Yes I suppose it is nice and I suppose I should thank you for that." N'kal in no way disliked practice, it kept him and Torath sharp, fit, and gave the rider something to do outside his miserable and lonely thoughts. But now he was starting to think he knew what S'kef was up to, sorting out the riders. Not a bad move he supposed, considering he probably knew most people didn't want him as weyrleader. "My guess is you will not be putting the wings back the way they were?" He was fairly certain he knew the answer, it wasn't like he gave a damn what he did with the wings honestly, so long as he left him and Torath out of whatever scheme he was cooking up.
