Her words had little visible effect on him, positive or negative. His muscles drew up a bit and a distant stirring of confusion appeared in his eyes, but he kept most of it to himself. He'd never had someone approach him in such a way, and it all honesty it was maddeningly strange.
"What are you up to?" he demanded instinctively. There was no way she just wanted to 'know his nature'. Wasn't that written plainly across his face?
A bitter expression settled in. "You're one of those who thrives off of acting mysterious, aren't you?" he asked in a low, velvet tone laced with the subtlest impatience. "And I know your name. I was told it before I came to find you."
