“I’m glad he’s not me because then I don’t know who I would be,” T’ryn grinned, replying with a quick quip like they were still best friends that hadn’t discovered sex and emotions they didn’t fully understand. It felt good, natural, and T’ryn wanted more of it. This is what he missed so much. Interacting with N’mor always brightened his day and never felt like a chore. Of course more of that kiss he was given would be nice and so would being intimate whenever they wanted, but he knew he’d be fine without it. N’mor was what he missed, not the sex. He had ignored his feelings for so long, surely he could bury them again for a while longer so someone else could be happy.
“Nem… you can still sleep with him,” and he’d only be slightly jealous, T’ryn thought. He had screwed up his chance to be with N’mor and while his fellow bronzerider was clearly offering him a second chance to have him, T’ryn didn’t know if he could accept. Even if a bluerider wasn’t a part of the equation, he felt like he wasn’t ready to try again. Casa had hurt him just as much as the fight with N’mor had. He didn’t think N’mor would sleep with everyone behind his back or make him feel like he wasn’t good enough but those were his issues to work through before trusting himself with someone again. If he couldn’t believe in himself enough, how would he be able to cherish the other person as much as they deserved?
“I meant it, you know. I want you happy and you are with him. I’ve seen it. And if there’s still sexual attraction, I don’t want to get in the way of that either.” He sighed and ran fingers through his hair again, knowing he was only making the bed head crazier each time he did. Maybe he’d start a new fashion trend. “Don’t give up on him yet, Nem, or one day you might start with the ‘what ifs’ and I’ve been playing that game for three months and it sucks. You can’t win it and you know how much I like puzzles.”
This time, he was the one to close the gap with quick steps putting him just in front of N’mor before the other man could pull his stunt of backing away. T’ryn held N’mor’s hand between his and placed it –and the poor crumbled letter – to his chest, or his heart as he smiled. “I’m not going anywhere. I told you ‘forever yours’ and I meant that, too. I know what it’s like to have the heart start opening up to two and I can wait. I promise.” As soon as the words left his mouth, he knew he spoke the truth. N’mor’s happiness was important and he’d never make the man choose, even though he kind of already did. But T’ryn didn’t want him to rush into it and felt rather proud of himself for putting the needs of others before his own.
