"I should hope so!" B'jin replied indignantly, more than a little put out by his parenting skills being compared to a man such as Talerian. B'jin was incredibly fond of his two young brats, and perhaps over compensated in doting on them in part because he was unable to be fully involved in his eldest's life, and lost his sister's children to boot. Of course, B'jin also felt he had enough love for all the children of the Weyr, and often went out of his way to steal as many as possible whenever he could. The fact that a minority of the men within the Weyr actively took part in the raising of their children was probably part of the reason B'jin so regularly got away with it.
B'jin shifted uncomfortably as Talian mused out loud, more than aware of any underlying implications, though he didn't pin Talian as the type to be of that style. The fact was, B'jin had no illusions as to whose fault it was Talian was stuck in Katila. While he could, if he really wanted, bat such responsibility off on D'ren, Tusen, the plague or, Faranth above, the firelizards themselves, B'jin was slightly more responsible. He didn't appreciate his selected being unhappy, and he did go out of his way to make the transition as smooth as possible for them. The greenrider was lucky, in that he was one of the few that could call more friendships with his Stolen than enemies. Not all the Searchrider's were quite so lucky, and really, B'jin was still somewhat floored by the statistics.
"Oh, it's not so bad." B'jin laughed, amused. "Larri just thinks I need more," he paused, trying to think of an eloquent way to put it. "Variety. Most dragons settle down; Larri is fairly unique in her flight requirements." B'jin shrugged light heartedly before lighting up in amusement as Talian grinned at him. His comment caused the older man to choke on a gasp of laughter, spluttering as he fought to breath as Talian's mind apparently drifted far away from the reality of the world they were in. B'jin's laughter was silent but fiercely shook his shoulders as he stood with one hand clapped over his mouth. B'jin watched Talian's face blank out, waiting for the young man to return to him, and thoroughly enjoying his expressions while he was away. Priceless!
