He paused to consider the implication. "...Cakes? Our of afterbirth?" he asked, as if making sure he'd heard correctly before commenting. He quirked his brows in a comical way. "That's...the most disgusting thing I've ever heard," he said, finally chuckling a little bit. That truly was revolting! He shook his head and gave a little shudder. Though, I guess father would approve...waste not, want not and all he thought with a mixture of mirth and heavily-repressed spite.
"I remember when my youngest sister was born there was a lot of chaos...when I finally entered the hall, that's all I could think of every time childbirth and pregnancy came up in class. It made me want to sink through the floor, thinking about my mother wailing like that."
He flushed a bit. What an awkward topic! Thank Faranth she was changing it.
"Hm. I would exchange notes, if I had anything with me. None of my work made it south with me. I used to have a lot of sketches, though...the craft master back home used to let me poke at cadavers..." he said. Not morbid he reminded himself gloomily. Maybe that wasn't such a smooth transition after all.
He blushed again and cut his eyes away. "I'm...not weird, I swear," he coughed, not realizing how silly he sounded. He was completely serious.
