I'shan waved one hand through the steam, wafting the pleasant aroma towards his face. His mother's recipes were all he had left of her, and he cherished them appropriately. He loved showing them off, too.
He took a moment to prepare his own plate, reveling in R'nd's tenuous anticipation. He took a second sip of wine before seating himself at his kitchen table and raising an eyebrow at R'nd. "Join me," he crooned though gritted teeth, "and I'll tell you all about it."
He took a few modest bites before he actually began, allowing his companion plenty of time to get his food and settle down. I'shan smiled and wiped his mouth properly before speaking. "Do you remember Larrikith's flight, R'nd?" he asked with a conspiratorial smirk. He knew R'nd was the lucky winner of the flight, and while he didn't know firsthand of R'nd' crush on B'jin, he highly suspected it.
He put his hands on the table and gripped the edge tightly. "...N'gelt burshed past us all and moved up to B'jin in the flight's early stages," he said, breath theatricality shallow. He leaned forward, all the way across the table. "I remember he pushed right past me, leaned close to B'jin and said...'You're mine, boy'," he said, imitating N'gelt's pleasantly deep voice as best he could.
